One good thing to come out of all this, I did get the Taxi member page link to work after replacing the "my/artist" substring with the literal text needed.

Alan,

Regarding the guitar tone of the rhythm guitar, I've found that emphasizing 1k seems to often work. If you have a vocal--which, in this track you don't, but if you did--you might well be dipping the1k on the vocal because it's nasal, so that's a perfect spot to let the guitar come through. And it's a pretty flattering frequency for the guitar, I think, even without a vocal.

Personally, I really try to limit the harsh frequencies around 2-4k. By the time you've run the guitars through a couple of layers of compression and limiting, those harsh frequencies can be so harsh they make your ears bleed.

Keep at it, Alan. The comments and rejections can feel brutal. I know because I get them constantly and I'm three years into doing this. I just got a return about ten minutes ago. Felt awful.

We Ohio guys gotta stick together. I'm rooting for you.

Bob

I did jump back and forth between the ref tracks (in a youtube window) and my DAW.
You need to look into ways of dragging it in

I'm still trying to balance 'good enough' with 'quick enough'. And coming up with not enough of either
Better to be good enough and slow than sloppy and fast. The tracks you make now stand a chance of being signed if they are good enough - most of my returns are in Libraries now. But if they are sloppy they are no good

I have in the past, didn't take that measure on this one. Another on the 'must do' list.

Excellent advice. And it makes me feel a bit better about my work.

Kind words, and once again, good advice. I'm not giving up!

I'm accumulating a small catalog of cues that never made it to the finish line. I figure I need to submit at least a few so that I can apply the feedback generally to all the cues I work on. So that when a similar opp comes up I'll have a better chance of getting forwarded on the first submission of a cue.

So I do self-edit and and reject quite a bit of my own work before I submit. This cue I was a little more happy with, and I need to submit routinely or I'll stop trying at all. And then I won't be improving my craft.

Have either of you, Mark or Alan, ever put together an album of cues and submitted directly to a music library, yourselves?

I ask because I was just listening to the forwards for a listing for which I submitted two tracks, both of which were returned, and I kinda honestly feel like my tracks were more on target and better sounding than a lot of what was forwarded. I don't say this as a sour grapes thing; a lot of the returns I've received have been returns that were well deserved. In this case, however, I feel like I have two viable tracks, and I could put together some more and shop it, myself.

I'm new enough to not have made any library connections, and that's by choice. At this point, I'm still trying to sell the idea of sync composing to myself.

Yes but it's been more the case that I've had a few tracks accepted in a certain style which has then lead to being asked if I can make an album's worth. It's a lot of work to make one if you don't have any commitment from a LIbrary to take it.

There's certainly nothing to stop you but do your research
