I KNEW this was gonna happen sooner or later.
Publishers tend to save their best stuff for performers with deals and a track record, so it helps if you can form relationships with talented writers directly, when you're "bubbling under".
You might could check out my band's profile on Reverbnation: http://reverbnation.com/doubleadaddies
The songs are done in classic honkytonk style, but could be updated; I can put you in touch with the writer. Speaking of 8 Seconds Saloon, I opened for Trick Pony with my last band.

Hey Brett,
Sounds like a great chance to get a song or two out into the public ear. There are two or three that may fit what you're looking for:
"Get A Real Job" was done live by the Taylor Brothers when they opened at River Fest in Bay City Michigan and at the Clio Amphitheater on July 4th in 08 and really lit the crowds up at both shows.
Also "A Little Texas Hold'em" and "I Found Love To Be A Paradox" in the up tempo slots.
There are also a couple of very good slower tunes that seem to really go over well with the ladies: "Can You Feel The Rest", "The Weight Of The Wait", and "Ain't We All"
Anything that grabs you is open for discussion at the moment.

All the best to you in the future my friend.

Hello Brett,
I am new to the forum here, but came upon your post from last month today. Was wondering if you were still looking for songs? Or did I miss the train?
Hope all is well with you and Brushfire.
Take care,
Shane

I will send you an mp3 recording and see if you're feeling it.
By the way,
I see the date of June 2010. Does this mean you're still seeking submissions?

If you are still looking I have just uploaded a new tune that fits
Doublewide Camelot and the new vocal is on the second version listed.
Good fortune in your future!
