Re: Crime Drama submission
Quote:I don't think I have a plug-in specifically for enhancing the spacial spread. It would be useful if I did. For this piece, I used delays quite a bit which bounced the sounds around, and programmed a lot of panning movement into the mix for certain instruments. The orchestra sounds come from EastWest (EWQLSO Platinum xp-pro) and they have a lot of built-in spacial characteristics. And I used a couple of different reverbs for certain instruments. I have to work on music late at night, so the whole thing was tracked and mixed using headphones. I haven't yet heard the piece through room monitors. I always hope for the best when doing it this way, but it involves a lot of guessing.Richard“I don't think I have a plug-in specifically for enhancing the spacial spread. It would be useful if I did.”I have some East West and some others as well. In terms of using a plug like S1, it really comes down to if your composition is starting with a multi-instrument sample (one sample with multiple instruments and built-in spatiality) or simply a bunch of individual instrument samples, digital instruments, and/or actual instruments. As you noted, “The orchestra sounds come from EastWest (EWQLSO Platinum xp-pro) and they have a lot of built-in spacial characteristics.” If Platinum pro dominates your bed, and spatiality is built in, then a plug like S1 may not provide much improvement. I find it helpful because most of my compositions are made up of individual instruments that do not contain built-in spatial characteristics. Thus, panning and spread have to be added to create spatiality. In all honesty, your stuff sounds really good as is. I’m not sure that using something like S1 would benefit you much--on this sort of composition. I’ve come to realize that often there is more than one way to attain a desired sound, and that specialized plugs such as S1 often provide the same (or near same) effect that two or more plugs may create when combined and set appropriately. As a result, you may already be doing what S1 does, but it’s being accomplished by using multiple plugs rather than a single one like S1.GB

Hey Richard! This was a very well done composition.I liked the variation of sounds you selected and also thought the build-up at the end was top notch.Good luck with this.Al

I'm not sure what the problem might be. But the piece is on my Taxi music page. Do I need to provide a password or something for you to hear it there?Richard

RBelow is the method I use to share links to songs listed on My Music in my TAXI account.Go into your Taxi account, click on My Music, click the Edit button for the song you want to share. Click the "Public" box and save. Place your cursor over the "Download" button. Look at the very bottom of your Internet browser and you should see the url for the download. Copy the six digit numeric value shown in the url where the six xxxxxx are in the link below. Copy and paste that url on the forum and if done properly, will allow Chits to catch your tune.I'm guessing that TAXI would prefer that you don't give out your PW for security reasons. My 2 cents. If you have any problems let me know.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

I really wanted to listen to your piece...sorry about that. I'll have to do some more troubleshooting. No, you don't have to give me a password. If it's listed on your TAXI hosting link, I can access that...at least, I hope, LOL.Don't worry though if it's too much trouble....I'll catch one of your songs at a later time when I do the trouble shooting.

Richard,The link you provided above did not work because you added more info. than the numberic value. I created a link for your song and posted it below. Take a look at it and compare it to what you place above.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

I'm still wondering why the original link didn't work for Chits. But anyway, if you're still checking, Chits, try this new link. Thanks again, G.R
