I saw this in some of the postings:"You must control the publishing and master rights to your songs - no samples that require clearance, please."If I am the copyright holder and have not signed away any of the production or publishing to anybody why would anyone need to get clearance except by signing something with me?Is it just me or where am I missing it?

Basically they want to make sure that you didn't use a sample of a copyrighted piece of music in your song. Also some sample libraries have restrictions depending on the usage (no samples that require clearance).Also if you have co-writers you need a power of attorney from them so you can sign the piece without having to track them down for permission (control of the publishing). If you used session musicians, you need to have releases from them so you have full and free right to pitch the master (the recording they played on) and they can't come back later and ask for royalties (control of the master rights).The listing party wants no strings attached.It pays to learn the business terminology, I recommend Donald Passman's book:http://www.amazon.com/Need-Know-About-M ... -1HTH,Mazz
