Yeah, I've upgraded and had issues...
I very rarely had any issues with maxing out the audio processing meters on 9.0 but it seems quite easy on 9.5, even though I'm not doing anything any different as far as I'm aware.
Do you mean the CPU meter(in Cubase), Graham? :?

If so, I found that I have to toggle the Delay Compensation button (top left in Cubase) and bottom left in the mixer window. Then after about 20 seconds it resumes to the previous value I had. If you don't there's no sound! :o
IS that the sort of thing you're experiencing?

Graham, do they still have the "freeze function" in Cubase 9.5? http://www.ahjteam.com/upload/freeze.png
it's the snowflake button. That will render a temporary audio file and disengage the plugin. To make adjustments, hit the button again, re-engage the plugin, make changes, freeze again...

Have you checked your preferences? It's possible the update didn't carry over your settings, and went to a default. Maybe the asio isn't set correctly or something? I would check the vst settings under preferences.

[....No, I don't have any 32 bit plugins - they're blacklisted by Cubase. :) ]
One down!... ;)

1. Try using the Render in Place function or Freeze. Render in Place is more flexible as you can easily edit audio after rendering.
2. Instead of inserts, try the new Direct Offline Processing - press F7 on audio events.
3. Try to increase the buffer of your audio interface a bit.

Studio One 3 seems to use loads more than my 2009 vintage Sonar 8.5..I haven't tested it scientifically yet though..it's just gut feeling

I'm a Cubase Artist user too. Upgraded to 9.5 & one of the things I noticed was all of a sudden audio waveforms were not showing up. I could hear what was recorded but not see the actual wave. I did the 'offline processing' thing & 'voila' i could see it. I noticed that if I used Ozone it really sucked up power & if I disabled it I didn't have the problem. I did change to 64 bit processing and that did seem to help. Have experienced some of the other issues mentioned too.
