Demos for other artists to cut
Why do they send songs back when the demo has a ( still on pitch ) gravely vocal or an instrument in the arrangement they don't feel fits? one time I was told " the song was great , but the drums came in to soon"....lol Isn't it just gonna be reproduced anyway? A clear recording with words, melody and music..... and nothing outta tune, you can tell the chords, what everything is doing and vocals...Is that not a demo?

Sure they might give it a professional mix and master but there's not really such a thing as demo's these days in most scenarios, the quality of what can be made in a home studios now has democratised music but also raised the bar that you need to be outputting tracks that sound radio ready.Gillihan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 4:18 pmWhy do they send songs back when the demo has a ( still on pitch ) gravely vocal or an instrument in the arrangement they don't feel fits? one time I was told " the song was great , but the drums came in to soon"....lol Isn't it just gonna be reproduced anyway? So you either need to be really good at production as well as songwriting or you need to pay people to do it for you ( as well as a vocalist that will sell the song )
Getting artists cuts is probably the most diffucult achievement for a Taxi Member. It does happen but if you don't produce and / or sing to good level you're either going to find it tough or expensive. That's why folks like me write instrumentals for TV instead as I can do everything myself for free omre or less. Others choose to pay for demo studios to cut high quality versions of their songs in order to get them into TV shows & Movies. Some folks collab and find singers or producers to work with so they can make a better product between them without spending all their hard earned on demo studios.
None of it's very easy and broadcast quality is non negotiable.

I realize now. I have the skills to do so. I just was thinking "demo" and saving time LOL I am just gonna produce everything as if it were going to be released .

In terms of needing better vocals, please reach out to me if you need a soft, female, vocal, or a strong, powerful top world tenor vocal. This is the kind of work we are looking for mostly. Contact butterflysmiles@yahoo.com or Instagram @butterfly.smiles

yeah mr. dolpgin is right, there is no such thing as demo quality anymore, you're expected to deliver master quality. after all, that's what your toughest competitors are doing. and if YOU don't, they will beat you in the game. every time.
