1950s-Style CLASSIC ROCK SONGS ... I made one more!

Post by HowlingUlf » Wed Apr 24, 2019 1:08 pm

Hi ppl! :)

More old rock'n'roll from me!
Is this stylistically better and all that and any comments appreciated ... even the wrong ones!

My take:
Sweet fourteen

TAXI wrote: 1950s-Style CLASSIC ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed
for a few $4,500, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements
in an Action Adventure Fantasy TV Series. This Music Supervisor needs original, Guitar-Driven, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would fit on a playlist with these references, which the Music Supervisor gave us:

Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry

“Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley

"Twenty Flight Rock" by Eddie Cochran

Over the course of the next few days you will see quite a few requests from this Music Supervisor as he is working on a series that uses Guitar-based music to represent different eras in music history. This series will need a LOT of different kinds of guitar music, and the Music Supervisor will be using TAXI as one of his primary sources to find that music!

Please send them original, guitar-driven Rock songs that have an authentic 1950s sound. Your submissions should have well-performed, authentic-sounding Rock band instrumentation with a compelling vocal performance that authentically fits with the ‘50s delivery and style of the references.

TAXI Tip: Your submissions can be actual vintage masters recorded in the 1950s, or they can be songs recently recorded
and just inspired by that era.

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “I need uplifting songs with plenty of dynamics and Infectious Riffs! Great catchy rhythms with deep pocket energy and drive. These tracks need to feel and sound like the real deal.”

Lyrics that are appropriate to the era and genre are preferred. Please don’t mention specific names, places, dates, times, brands, or profanity. Do NOT copy the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Era-Appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed. In other words, if you're submitting music that's ostensibly from the '50s, it should sound sonically like it's from the '50s -- not 2019 ;-)

The estimated license fee for each of these placements is $4,500, depending on the ultimate placement. These will be Direct-to-Music Supervisor placements, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD; please include Lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Time permitting, the Music Supervisor himself might be able to screen submissions for this request! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT) on Monday, April 22nd, 2019. TAXI #Y190422FT

Hi HowlingUlf,

This one is much better than the other one!

But...there is still some weird effect or harmony or doubling or something on the vox during the chorus that is not good.

My 2 cents,
Tim

Hi again! :)
That's true ... too bad it was that obvious heh.
I have a hunch of what it could be.

responding to the second track, sweet 14. Cool track overall.

- I like the guitar parts, here are a few thoughts:
-- seems like the lead needs a bit of grit and 'danger' added to the sonic pallete.
-- I'd re-track or nudge the timing on the cascading riff @2:00
-- I might play less fills, and bring the chugga-chugga part up some.

agree that the BGV's have an interesting, but off-target, feel to them, keep it simple and just double things up maybe?

Cool piece, best of luck with it!
Erich

Mmmm ... I had that originally but removed it to make it more 50s, when audio engineers had white coats and cola bottle glasses and frowned upon distortion!
The sound kind of died so I probably put it back! Too boinky.

THAT wasn't meant to be left on its own there! It was just a placeholder and I got too used to it to notice it! It's swearing rotten!
I have to do that properly

Yeah, why not! I'll try.

Probably also true. If two people react negatively ... don't be stubborn! :)
Cool piece, best of luck with it!

Thanx and thanks for listening!
