Surely the screener was listening to another track when critiquing my song for this listing.
This was for the recent listing -
HIGH ENERGY ROCK INSTRUMENTALS that will work well for Sports TV programming are needed by the Head of Creative at an Independent Music Publishing Company. He needs the type of track that will add energy and excitement when played with dramatic sports action highlights. Submit Up-Tempo, adrenaline filled tracks with a current and contemporary sound for this pitch. Driving electric guitars with pounding bass and drums will work well. A small amount of electronic instruments can also work, but he’s not looking for anything that’s too synth driven, electronic, or Dub Step sounding. Keep to the Rock genre for this! Your instrumental should convey a sense of competition or the struggle for victory that will make the listener want to jump up off their couch and tackle the person next to them!
I submited 3 tracks for this (all 3 on my taxi page - www.taxi.com/jessemarantz)
- 'King for a Day' was forwarded!
- 'Chemical Fire' was returned for being "a little more "synth driven" than what these guys are looking for" which I completely agree with.
- 'PARTY ROCK' was also returned however as "This is still a little more "synth-driven" than what these guys are looking for. For this type of listing it's better if any electronic elements are low in the mix, add to the sonic complexity, and more felt than heard."
There is absolutely no synths in this recording. It is completely a punk rock song produced with only guitars, bass and drums. Did the screener listen to the wrong song?!

Jesse, did you put in the wrong song for Party Rock? Just kidding. I can understand how one of the guitar parts could be mistaken for a synth, I thought it was, but because I was told it was a guitar, well I trust it is. Maybe it was the sound envelope that smoothed out the picked attack of the guitar by an effect or something, I'm not sure.

I agree with Len here... One of the guitar parts could easily be mistaken for a synth. If the screener heard it that way, it's very probable that the listing party would have as well.Len911 wrote:Jesse, did you put in the wrong song for Party Rock? Just kidding.
