They wouldn't know. They just know what vibe they want.

That's what I thought - but here's the question. If you want to have this typical classic AC / DC vibe from the early years you need to tune down the guitars but then you don't match the original vibe. The guys from Airborne were quite aware of that, thats why they tuned down the instruments as well - at least on that recording.

It's really hard to tell what exactly is looked for. Like on a listing like one week ago, which was looking for retro style pop-funk cue's. So I took a string sound which was near to original stringsounds back in the 70's which of course sounded outdated - and exactly that was critizised.

Just saying it's hard to tell...

Depends how you use them, you can use retro sounds in a modern way as well.

Listen to something like Dua Lipas Future Nostalgia album..full of hit songs but also full of retro sounds..they just use them in a more contempary way..it's not the actual sounds ...it's the writing and production
