Dimpled tweeter replacement

Post by Paulie » Thu Oct 15, 2015 9:27 pm

I use a pair of Samson Resolve 50a monitors in my studio. I've got a dimpled tweeter. :-(

It's a 1" tweeter, I found a replacement part, it's a tad different. I'm not an audiophile so I don't know if this is good quality or not. Is it possible for me to upgrade to a better tweeter and just swap both out? If so, any recommendations?

Hi,
If you can, get two, and try to match the specs of the original. Replace both so you would get the same sound from each speaker. Look for the power rating and frequency range of the tweeter. Your speaker may have it's crossover frequency listed, so you can find one that works with that.

If you can get the part number from the manufacturer, you won't need to buy two; these things are made with off-the-shelf parts that are machined to X number of ten thousandths of an inch or mm or whatever it is, these days. You may have noticed that they long ago stopped charging extra for matched pairs of microphones.

You may have some trouble sourcing that, though; google though I might, I couldn't find a supplier for dimpled tweeters, ;)
