Do you use PRO account on Soundcloud?
Just curious: if you are paying for a PRO account on Soundcloud...
1) Why?
2) How is that a benefit?
PS: the free account allows up to 3 hours of content (that works out to 55 or 56 tracks for me).

The best advantage of the PRO account other than more music time is the ability to re-upload audio for a track while keeping the same link. So let's say you post a link for feedback and then make updates to the mix. You'd have to delete and re-upload which can be annoying unless you have PRO.
This being said, I'm trying to get away from SC and use Disco more and more. SC is full of spammers and piracy. Disco is totally private, your tracks don't appear in internet searches, you can tag, put in lyrics, create custom playlists, etc. All without the BS that comes with SC. www.disco.ac
Best,
Casey

Thanks for that, Casey. I'm aware of, but not looking for, alternate platforms to Soundcloud.Casey H wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 11:34 amPeter

I've learned to deal with the only-slight hassle of reloading an updated mix - no biggie, really.
My question is aimed at those who DO use the Professional-grade version of SC... and if any have 'justified' the expense.
Maybe some folks have their SC pages monetized - I've not sought after that avenue/revenue.
A few tracks I've officially 'released' are on my bandcamp site.
SO - PRO-level Soundcloud users - what's your experience & reasoning? please...
my latest, and last 'free' upload is today's new mix of this one:

Re: Do you use PRO account on Soundcloud?
I've had the PRO account for at least 5 years now. Probably more like 7-8 years. The real impetus for that decision is the unlimited minutes of content that you can upload. I'm FAAAAR in excess of the 3 hours or whatever it is you get with the free account. And now I'm apparently on a recurring payment structure, because every year my credit card gets automatically charged to continue the service, lol.
If I didn't have over 3 hours of music, I'd probably stick with the free option.

I have more... but at this point, probably not enough to justify the automatic 'ding'.
That savings probably only adds up to a few beers at The Westin, though.

Re: Do you use PRO account on Soundcloud?
Some expenses will never be "justified" from a pure direct ROI POV. You probably wouldn't make the money back on any monetizing, especially if you don't have a large volume of songs out there doing well. So it comes down to the convenience factor and that doesn't seem to be a concern to you. That means a NO for you.
For me, based on the sheer volume of songs I have and my preference to be able to re-upload mixes, it's worth it. I'm do not have Pro Unlimited, I have Pro. That still gives me lots of hours of music. It's $55/year. For just pennies a day, you can adopt a Soundcloud account!

Hi Guys..interesting thread with lots of good info thanks. How much is Disco a year and are there any issues of sharing Disco links with people who are not on Disco? Thanks a lot. Cheers, Smudgie

Hey Smudgie
Disco Lite, which is all most of us need, is $10/month (US). https://disco.ac/pricing
Absolutely no problems sharing links with people who are not on Disco. Here is one of my links, for example: https://s.disco.ac/fhkazllewmzj Since you are not on Disco, you will see you have no problem using it.
You can create a link that is streaming only or one that allows download.
Best,
Casey
