Don't bore us with your crappy chorus

Post by joe44850 » Tue Apr 29, 2025 1:50 pm

Another song that is not melodic or interesting enough. If you are having difficulty sleeping, I have a bunch more like this that will help you in your quest for Z's.

This is really good! Love it! Very Morgan Wallen, maybe Luke Combs :D :D Keep in mind that this type of listing is as high bar as it gets-- hit-worthy songs for very well-connected Music Row Publisher. Submissions are reviewed in the context of the listing. So this one would have to walk on water to get a forward.

Don't sweat it!!
:D Casey
HIT-WORTHY COUNTRY SONGS with MALE Vocals are needed by a very well-connected Music Row Publisher! They're currently working with a very popular Country Star who's making his next release.

This Publisher (with songs cut by Miley Cyrus, Keith Urban, Eric Church, and many more) is on the hunt for slam-dunk Hits in ALL tempos that could be heard on a playlist with the following references:

"You In A Honky Tonk" by Randall King

"What It's Come To" by ERNEST

"Hey Cowgirl" by Randall King

Please submit well-written Country Songs with a traditional-leaning sound and lots of potential to be the next big hit in Country music! This Publisher is looking for tracks that bring traditional Country sounds and motifs into the mainstream, creating a bridge between classic and contemporary Country styles. Your submissions should have unforgettable choruses, well-crafted melodies, engaging rhythms, solid arrangements, and well-written lyrics that convey lots of emotion. Country instrumentation in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the references will work best for this pitch. Please make sure that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high quality and not dated-sounding. Expressive, authentic, and well-performed Male vocals are needed, if you'd like to get this artist to cut your song.. Be sure your Songs have an authentic, compelling sound with great melodies and captivating lyrics!

TAXI Tip: Vocal deliveries can often make or break Song pitches. Making sure that the vocals in your Songs are well-performed, compelling, and rich with Country authenticity could likely increase your chances of getting this Artist excited about your Songs!

Stripped-down demos and full productions are both okay to submit, as long as your Songs are great and your recordings are clean, clear, and well-balanced! Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe.

AI ALERT: This company does not accept or sign music that has been lyrically or melodically composed using generative AI, nor does it accept backing tracks, full instrumental tracks, or vocal performances created with AI.

NOTEWORTHY: If time permits, someone from the Publisher's staff (who has been trained as a TAXI screener) will screen for this request. That means that somebody who is directly involved in this request could be "ears-on" with your submissions.

The specific deal points will be negotiated on a Song-by-Song basis directly with the Publisher. Please submit as many Songs as you like, online or per CD, and PLEASE include lyrics! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Monday, March 31st, 2025. TAXI # S250331DK

Well, for what it's worth - sounds radio-ready for these old guy ears; agreeing with Casey - it's "really good".

However, as oft as it gets rePETE'ed on TAXI TV and these forums - 'good' isn't necessarily 'the right fit' for the client.
AND - that decision is at the discretion of the screeners (ed. 'whose') job it is to PLEASE THE CLIENT.

It's solid but I don't hear it as the next big country hit.

Feels more like something could be used in a TV placement but the lyrics are too specific for that. Could work as source ( i.e. coming out a Jukebox in a bar ) then the lyrics may not be an issue.

The pre-chorus section doesn't really prepare the listener for the chorus - it just sounds like a double verse, so I you might be able to improve on that..set us up better for what follows.

Hey Joe
Country is a tough nut. The odds of getting a cut by an artist in Nashville are infinitesimal. Even a great song, forwarded, and signed by a publisher still has only the teeniest of chance. I remember hearing Jason Blume talk about moving to Nashville, working his butt off, living on spaghetti for 10 years before he finally got a cut.

Regarding sync, country is probably the least used genre in sync. The exception would be a song playing out of a roadside bar jukebox. My observation (which is not the gold standard) is that rocking country songs have the best chance of that. And even then, story song lyrics probably wouldn't work well. A universal chorus like "Let's Go Raise Some Cain" or "We're Gonna Raise Some Cain" would be more like it, but my gut tells me it would have to be a country rocker.

That leaves you with a solid song that may not be very marketable. :(

Americana is probably more marketable...I hear a lot more of it on TV shows here (UK) than Country

Hi CosmicDolphin -- love your screen name :-D
Thanks for the advice. This song has actually been forwarded several times, I was just curious why this particular reviewer wasn't in to it. What are you feelings on the pre-chorus of "I Had Some Help" by Post Malone?

Nice, you are pretty perceptive -- I was actually using that as a sort of structural guide. I figured the biggest country hit of 2024 might be a safe template :D
