don't fit
Hi Folks, I really appreciate the advise I got from the tunes I sent but I feel that no matter what correct listing I put my songs under they're not going to work. My material just isn't commercial enough. Oh well its been fun.

I feel you on that one. I was in the same boat. I didn't renew this year for that exact reason. I think even Taxi will tell you, they're not for everybody. Good luck.

Have you considered writing for the listings? Are you interested in being "commercial enough" or was your hope to place songs you've already written? Most of us have to be willing to stub our toes a lot of times before we get the hang of what is acceptable in the market. I have written (and continue to write) a lot of songs that I love that I accept won't become hits (or even placements) unless I make them hits myself (which is the same as "it won't happen"). If you are just trying to get your music, your sound out there, then you are better off creating your own niche by doing your own CDs. Otherwise, through yourself into the songwriting process, making each new one more commercial than the last.

I think alot of us have experienced that line of thinking at one time or another but the biggest thing I have learned is that it gets better with time. Keep playing, keep writing, keep posting here in the forumns and you WILL grow. Some members here have success very early..... others it takes years.... but the most important thing is to know thyself. Understanding the target listings can be one of the most difficult things. There are some GREAT songwriters here that get turned down over and over... then one day that same tune is Forwarded and it gives you a taste of accomplishment. I noticed that you have few posts ... see if you can post one of your tunes and "ask" other members to give you some advice. You'll be surprised at all of the wonderful help that is awaiting you right here...Who knows.... maybe this songwriting thing its not for you.... but then again... maybe its just a test to see if you can withstand the hardship that fuels success...Lets hear your tunes....

That is a good post Clan. And very true.
