© 1987 song - Roy Cooper© 2009 video Roy CooperA soldier’s last letter to his sweetheart back home.Thought that I would share my latest music videowith you. It does have a 1-minute talking introduction and I think it’s worth it. but what do you think, with or without introduction..The full lyrics are further down the page.video with introductionhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld3c5IHKHWoif you want to know more please visitwww.dontforgetmyname.com-----------------------------------------------------'Don't Forget My Name'Talking Introduction.Of the 58,000 plus us service personal who were killed in Vietnam, 5 were only 16 years of age, the average age being just 23 years.Their names are engraved permanently on the Vietnam wall.More than 17 million members of the armed forces perished during world war11.1 Million, 700 thousand men and women of the commonwealth forces died in two world wars.Of these the remains of 925 thousand were found and their graves are marked by headstones. The headstones are permanent and uniform and there is no distinction made on account of military, civil, rank, race or creed.Among the personal effects of the many war dead, last letters to loved ones were often found and sent on. This is one such letter.singingTo part I know is bitter sweet,to leave this war-torn land, but the lord my maker, I have to meet, as he takes my lowly hand.Don’t cry my love, don’t cry for me,the tears are all for you, though my eyes no longer see the world,my spirit is brand new.Don’t cry my love, dont cry for me,the tears are all for you, though my eyes no longer see the world,my spirit is brand new.TalkingI remember fondly your smile, so soft and sweet,The way we kissed and held each other’s hands. The plans we made of a future yet to come. What now my love, I ask, what now?singingRemember me as I was then, when we where so in love,These words I'll write with earthly pen,Then wait for you above. The years may pass and come and go,you'll find true love again, some pain and sorrow you may know, but don't forget my name.Oh don't forget, have no regrets, please don't forget my name, some pain and sorrow you may knowbut don't forget my name.TalkingThe sounds of battle have long gone, and my comrades surround me,I feel my life slipping away,as I am engulfed by darkness.I know I will not see another day,but I will carry your image with me to eternity.SingingThe years may pass and come and go,you'll find true love again, some pain and sorrow you may know, but don't forget my name.please don't forget, my name.---------------------------------------------

Hi Roy, really like the introduction, although I couldnt stop from thinking that it was a bad James Earl Jones impression. Sorry. But it is a very powerful intro..

Think the intro would be great for live performance or a DVD/CD cut but would be left off for radio play. Really great for a live Concert with a screen in back of the band.

Thanks solardaze... I thought that it was a good James Earl Jones impression..lol... Seriously though, my friend Tony recorded the Introduction 0ver 7 years ago Just before he passed away.I seem to remember saying to him before he went to the studio..'think James Earl Jones'. I tried for the man himself.... but ......thanks though for listening and taking the time...
