The B section was definitely rocking dug that. but this is also on the rock side, until the bridge, it kinda seemed like it had a little less of the dub influence. Which I also took to mean the use of delay and verb - like those songs where Stuart copeland had delay on his hihat / snare and you could hear it come around.
Point taken ... in the A section I think I was going for sort of a straight-ska feel, which yeah, definitely ended up pretty stiff. Thanks for the thoughts, Andy!

I agree with the others.
The bass and drums are more upfront.
The guitars could be better balanced with the rest. Having said that, It's a great track.
Maybe they had a lot of material to forward already and the balance thing was enough to choose this one not to send.
If you can do a new mix, go for it and you'll be prepared for the next one or to shop it to another publisher.
Best of luck!

Hi Guys, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you but I wanted to follow up on your feedback.

I just wanted to say thanks again for listening to my track 'Rockdub'. I think you are right, maybe the guitars were not 'rock' enough for the screener/listing...who knows!!

Nick, I listened to your track 'Walking the Beat' and I think it is excellent. It has a great sound in the intro section, I really like the fast picked guitar part and the chorus reminds me of Blondie or Siouxsie & the Banshees kinda vibe. A really great track all round, I can't see why it didn't get a forward.

It is really excellently played and produced, just out of interest are the drums programmed or live. They sound fantastic and 'live' either way. If you say 'programmed' it will give me something to aspire to!!!

Listening to your other tracks 'Tall Grass' is really brilliant as is 'Just Don't Stop'. I also really like 'Bluest Eyes, Blackest Heart'

Andy, thanks for the feedback, I checked out your website and you have written some fantastic pieces of music!

Thanks again and maybe we'll be in touch again soon!

Cheers Ian :-)

Hey Ian,

Thanks for the listen and the kind words! All the drums (on just about all the tracks on my Soundcloud) are Addictive Drums, some more lovingly-programmed than others. As Andy pointed out, I do think I left these a bit mechanical, but it's surprisingly easy to get a good sound if you're fastidious about velocity changes.

Always appreciate the feedback! (Although "Tall Grass" must have come from somebody else's stream--not mine! But if it's good, maybe I'll take credit for it anyhow  )

Ah, it just occurred to me--"Tall Grass" is Andy's, which I guess is on my stream because I liked it ... because it's awesome!
