I'd love some feedback on this track.Be as brutal as you want. It wont offend me. We are all different and have different opinions. Love the steel guitar! I filled in your chart per your request. Keep in mind that a 10 to me would be if God came down to earth, wrote, produced, performed and engineered a song ._9_ Music _7_ Lyrics_7_ Marketability (I'd say this is a lock on a forward for an appropriate TAXI listin)_8_ Arrangement_8_ Production_9_ EngineeringReally nice work. Best of luck with this one!Erich

OK, I just listened to this for the 3rd time. This is a great song/performance/production. I could hear George Strait singin' it.Cheers,Erich

JD,Well you nailed the demo that's for sure, and the singer sounds enough like George Strait to pass for him. The song itself is where I have the problem. I like it, but I just didn't hear a strong enough melodic hook, although the "so aint there a little bit of Elvis in all of us." line comes pretty close. Sometimes my favorite Steely Dan songs were like that and took a few listens to warm up to. Yours could very well be like this, but I think in country these days it has to knock your socks off right away. As they say, it has to be something your three year old would sing to you in the car. Your chord progression and melody are a bit too complex and meandering compared to what you hear in country these days. It's OK to push the envelope, and you've done it very well, but it would be hard to get cut unless George decides he's tired of the same old stuff and wants to try something a bit different. Problem is, unless you have a direct route to ol' George you'll never get past his gatekeepers.OK, here I am talking like I have all the answers, and I don't have a single cut yet, so keep that in mind.I'll let someone else comment on the lyrics because it's not my strength. Claire, are you there? One other thing is that the song needs to be at least 30 seconds shorter for country radio. So here you go. I actually thought the music was kind of cool, just not very fitting for the current country market._6_ Music_5_ Lyrics_5_ Marketability_6_ Arrangement_9_ Production_9_ EngineeringGood luck with it!Cam

Thanks for the input.Keep it coming.Dont hold back if you think it sucks.Yeah I can cut the time quite easily by cutting the outro down to size. That would get me to 3.30 ish.I could cut the instrmental bridge in half (keep the steel) to lose another 15 secs if I had to.

Hey JD - Wow this is a very pro sounding track. Great players, production, engineering and I really like the song. Someone said the chord progression might be a little too "out" for country radio but that's my favorite part of the track. If you could get the end of the chorus to pop a bit more, the part where you repeat "ain't there a little bit of Elvis in you and me", That would make it a standout, stellar track to me. eo.
