EMERGING ARTISTS/INDI SINGER-SONGWRITERS/INDI BANDS?

Post by raymy » Wed Oct 06, 2010 6:25 pm

When advertising related listings mention EMERGING ARTISTS/INDI SINGER-SONGWRITERS/INDI BANDS, (as in the most recent dispatch listing for a major retailer) are we to assume that TAXI is only interested in tracks from actual artists who are touring/selling to the public, etc? What about those of us who can produce a track that sounds like an EMERGING ARTISTS/INDI SINGER-SONGWRITERS/INDI BANDS? Is it the "hip" factor of featuring an up and coming that the client is seeking? I passed on this opportunity the first time around for that reason. However, now that they are seeking more options, I feel compelled once again to give it a shot. I don't want to spend all weekend producing a track that is right on target stylistically and sonically only to have it rejected because I am a 42 year-old worship pastor from Lancaster, CA. I am getting better at reading between the lines in the listings, and it seems to me that is the deal here (especially when they use all CAPS!) Any thoughts?

Since they didn't ask for a bio or a picture I would go with whatever that implies.

I don't think so. I think they were contained in an email for 3 advertising opportunities, I believe they were also listed in various places like hard to classify film and tv on the listings page.

I think the safest thing to do here is call Taxi and ask.

Good luck!

I agree with this! I pass on a lot of listings just like this even though I could probably knock something out for them. I just wouldn't want to mis-represent myself as something I'm not. So far there have generally been enough other listings that these haven't really risen to the radar or else I would have called TAXI for the clarification.

Also, I'd guess your definition of the term EMERGING could be...err...subjective. 8-)

Good Luck!
