ENERGETIC SWING SONGS with Male Vocals (S230717YU)
Could this song, "Joy Noise," work for the listing below? If not, could it be "fixed" to work? Thanks!

ENERGETIC SWING SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for an (up to) $500 Direct-to-Filmmaker/Director Placement in an upcoming Indie Feature Film.
NOTE: This film's Director is BRAND NEW to requesting music from TAXI's members, so this is a great chance to make a little bit of money upfront; and more importantly, it's an opportunity for this Director to get to know you and your music for future films he directs!
The Director is searching for Up-Tempo Songs that could work as a replacement for "When You're Smiling" by Louis Prima which is currently temped in.
When You're Smiling" by Louis Prima
They're NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, style, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!
NOTE: You can submit recently recorded Songs in the general production style of the reference that capture the authentic sound needed, OR if you have high-quality vintage recordings (recorded back in the day), they would love to hear those as well!
Please submit well-crafted Swing Songs that could make listeners want to get on their feet and start dancing! Your submissions should have great melodies, energetic grooves, and era-appropriate Swing instrumentation. If you plan on using any virtual instruments or samples, they need to sound like the real thing and can't feel synthetic or obviously MIDI-driven. High-quality productions and well-performed, jazzy vocals brimming with great energy are musts for this pitch as well!
Lyrics should avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, places, and profanity. Please do NOT copy the referenced Song or artist in any way, shape, or form. Use the reference only as a general guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.
The estimated license fee for this placement is (up to) $500, depending on the ultimate use.
IMPORTANT: Because you'd be licensing directly to the film's Director and not going through a publisher, you'll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recordings, plus you'll also get 100% of the License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control the Masters and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you'd like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Monday, July 17th, 2023. TAXI # S230717YU

Maybe?
The Louis Prima track is a jump swing tune. Bass and piano L.H. on all 4 beats, and piano R.H. on the upbeats. Your track feels more like a gypsy jazz swing track with the Django Reinhardt type guitar chunks on every beat.
To me they are two different types of swing. I'm not sure the screeners are going to differentiate.

My immediate first thought-- trying to repurpose a children's song. C'mon, man. By now you should know this will never work!Telefunkin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 11:34 amThe lyrics are clearly for a children's song rather than a playful song.
Yea, you're going to have to find a collaborator who can take your ideas through production, whether it's children's songs, cues, pop songs, whatever.Telefunkin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 11:34 amAs ever, I admire your tenacity in keeping at this, but highly recommend working with others who can shape your ideas into more of a finished product that would not only get beyond the screeners but have a chance of securing library deals and placement.
I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!

Just to pile on
- your track is 112bpm by my metronome, while the ref track (TEMP'd into the scene) is 116bpm. That, plus the rhythmic/stylistic differences, makes it appear to my ears as noticeably slower/less busy/less energetic. As a possible sub for a temp track, that alone can be a deal-breaker.

I would just write something new for the listing and find a proper singer.

Hi Michael ....and to add on more to the above comments there are timing issues throughout the song with various instruments.

Thanks, Andre. So, other than the song, the singing, the tempo, and the instruments, no problems?
