EPIC ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENTAL COMPOSER?

Post by fusilierb » Thu Apr 16, 2009 8:21 am

There is a new listing with the above title. It says:He is looking for "the biggest, most epic modern/hybrid orchestral pieces available."Can anyone point me to some examples of what this might really sound like. Anyone know of any bands, movies or any forwards from any of you that captures what this means exactly? Thanks,B

Go to iTunes and peruse the soundtracks to 300 and Watchmen by Tyler Bates. Also some stuff from Gladiator (Zimmer) might apply as well.Just a couple of ideas.MazzEdit: Just downloaded and am listening to 300 and Watchmen. Tyler Bates is the guy to beat on this stuff. He's good at the Hybrid/Orch/Epic as well as the excellent SciFi moody stuff. There's an article on him in the new Electronic Musician, worth checking out. Watch your back, Bates, Mazz is in town!!

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

You go get him Mazz! That was a good article. Sampled all of the clips from 300's soundtrack. Whew, that's gonna take some serious engineering, programming and great samples to pull off. I will give it a shot.B

Mazz - No problem. I know there is never any way to know for sure what they are after - but at least I have a starting point now. ~ Lydia

Yes, like they are mentioning in this listing: "Twilight, I Love You, Man, He's Just Not That Into You, Television: Ugly Betty, True Blood, Beverly Hills 90210". Search this on YouTube, I did it and it was very helpful. Industrial orchestra music with heavy guitars!

Ya know there are a bunch of listings this time from this same guy but they only want to hear RECORD LABEL QUALITY MUSIC and that the bar is set extremely high. Actually, I would like to attempt some of this content but I don't think I can attain the master level of audio required. I just don't think I can compete with multi million dollar studios and I don't believe I've heard anything on this forum that can. I'm thinking the number of folks who can do this will be limited. I might be wrong, but personally I think I'm going to bow out on this stuff...Keith
