Fade out in Logic studio 8
Hi there! I just wonder if anyone knows how to fade a sampled instrument? Say strings? I'm having a hard time figuring this out, just a single instrument, not the entire mix. The real instruments there's no problem, but the sampled, that's another thing.. Thanks for any thoughts!

Automate a plug-in gain control on a channel strip? That's what I do, works fine.

Ah, never thought of that, never used that function somehow, I'm new to studio, only worked in express before. Thanks!

Or just automate the volume of the whole instrument.... put it in "touch" and grab the fader and slide it down where you want it to fade. Especially fast if you have a fader controller of some sort.

Re: Fade out in Logic studio 8
Hi Alexander!I’ve been using Logic8 for about a year. There is a lot to it. I just finished my 3rd tutorial and am constantly discovering new things. I am not an expert but this might help.I used the crossfade tool for fadeouts for about 4 months until I discovered automation in a tutorial. At the top of the window, click “Automation”. All regions will get larger and will have a horizontal line going through the entire track. You can control pan, volume and other things using nodes, those little dots that you can drag up and down, which will increase or decrease the value. (Once in automation mode, click on the horizontal line to create a node. Click again to remove it.) If you are fading out, just drag the value (node) down. There is also an Automation Select Tool which allows you to shape the curve of the fade out.Hi Steve! I just tried putting a gain control in the channel strip but I haven’t been able to figure out how to automate it from there. Could you be more specific?I just looked up automation on page 581 of the User Manual. Check it out. It will help.Bob
