Post by kitz » Thu Dec 18, 2008 9:42 pm

Hi ya'll,Could you guys and gals five me some feedback on this? Any input would be graciously appreciated from the lyric to the music to the mix down to the title. Anything would be helpful!!Thanks,Kitzhttp://www.taximusic.com/stream/194334/Fades%20Away.mp3So you can't sleep again toniteCan't put away - this worried soulWith all your mightYour oldest he's stolen off to roamHe fights the world - to make men wealthyHere at homeWhen you got hungry souls to feedIt's hard to do - with those who ruleSo wrapped in greedThen they go and take away your jobSome foriegn land - a cheaper wageIt's you they robIn your distant heart A light there shines most every dayAnd you swear that you can reach it As it fades awayLittle ones need to feel secureRaise the window - keep them coolLock the doorSomeday your son is coming homeWith tales of war - tales of valor He'll rightly ownAnd then you will sleep the perfect niteA peaceful world - A fuller moon And stars so brightTomorrow you'll get along somehowSay a prayer - if you dareHave faith for nowIn your distant heart A light there shines most every dayAnd you swear that you can reach it As it fades awaySo you can't sleep again toniteCan't put away - this troubled soulThe will to fightWhen you got twenty years or moreThey just move in - take the profitsAnd lock the doorAnd if he's to never be returnedYou pray each day - that fades away Somehow we'll learnOh the road that leads to loveIs there for everymanIn the spirit in the heartAnd in the understandAnd when you got nothing left to giveThe little ones that light the sunsAre why you live They're why you live

I have got kids, and this does choke me up!The thought of my son going away to war one day isjust something I don't want to give a moments thought to.This is just beautiful Kitz.It captures the agony parents in such a situation must go through.Lovely words, arrangement and harmonies. No national references, so this could fly anywhere. Can't think of a nation that doesn't have rulers "so wrapped in greed".Well crafted, poignant lyrics.Loved the way the cello's came in.Just beautiful work.Well done,Dave.

kitz,Despite several attempts, I couldn't get your song to stream. Whether I click on the link or copy/paste it, the browser goes into download mode, then comes up with a question mark after a while. Sorry no listen!Vince

Excellent work, Kitz. I spoke to the issue of repeating a verse with you before. It still is an issue, but not as much because the song is growing on me. I'm sure it will with each listen. The cello at the end is by far the best accompaniment and is in better tune than the earlier passages. All in all, this is a fine song with emotional lyrics that you present very well with your passionate voice. Everything from the fear for your loved ones to the angst of the evil ones comes through. All the best, man. Merry Christmas, Wig

Vince,I've made it downloadable so you can try again and see if it works. Wig, this rendition was cut from a 2 track full mix with vocal so unless I rerecorded the whole thing from scratch I couldn't change that verse - I did work on it verse but decided not to rerecord the whole song. It took me a year the 1st time. I will go over the cello again (I was able to get a buddy to rip a seperate cello and vocal track). Thanks alot for your help. Paul and Dave - Muchos for the Kudos!! By the way - not all my songs are sad. Kitz

kitz, for some reason I can't ever stream your songs! just get an error message. Sometimes that happens with my computer & i don't know why but for some reason I don't think I'ver ever been able to hear even one of your tracks! You've always listened to mine and offered advice etc. & I didn't want you to think I was ignoring you.

I have to right click on the link, take 'Save Target As', save the file somewhere and play it from there. The new TAXI hosting service doesn't stream links for meBeautiful, emotional piece. Vox are haunting and lovely at the same time, not an easy thing to do.Beautiful playing on the acoustic git, but I'm not in love with the sound. Seems a bit thin/phasey/chirpy to these ears. Sounds like it was tracked with a bridge piezo pickup? Again, beautiful piece; thanks for posting it. cheers!

The url goes to this pagehttp://music.taximusic.com/hi_194334.mp3....zijwsHQAT9zw%3DA little message in the status bars says downloading, and then done, but nothing else happens. I supsect that the file gets cached in my temp internet folder. IMO, the real problem here is TAXI's hosting page. There's no facility for a playable link like Soundclick. You can either launch a TAXI artists music page and select the song by title, or download the file, save and open it. That's why I keep a soundclick page. PITA to keep files in 2 places, but having 1 click links is a nicety for folks willing to review material.Cheers
