Film Placement Indirectly through Taxi
So here's how indirect this placement was. I met this guy on the forum a couple of years ago named Mazz. At my first rally last year I got to meet him in person-- great guy, phenomenal composer. So Mazz lands this film score that he's posted about. The film runs into a situation where they need a replacement rock song in just a few days. Thanks to playing the Dispatch challenge, Ponch and I have had a lot of experience producing in a crunch. Mazz suggests they contact me. We finalized the contract on a Saturday afternoon and they had a completed track and stems Tuesday. It wasn't a huge money deal, but they were so pleased with the track that they actually paid us 25% more than the contracted amount. The track is for a scene where two females drive to and through San Fransisco to the Napa Valley to buy a bottle of champaign for the male protagonist. They wanted a fun song to set the tone for the scene -- and here it is -- our first film placement!btw-- though it's not by any stretch a major release, it is is the first Tamil crossover movie shot in the US with an international cast, and the film will be distributed widely through the US and India.AubGet Away DayVs1Got the top down are you up for seeing the sightsGonna take the 280, San Francisco’s waitingWith a million ways to feel all rightTrading nine to five for a freedom rideFeeling alive as the BayThese city streets are good companyEvery turn is going our wayPrechorus 1The skyline is a welcome signFor feeling like a VIPWe can take a break and hang with MonetBeing who we want to beChorus 1Got a good time, feel good, get away dayRiding high as the Golden GateThe road ahead is a free wayFor a good time, feel good, get away dayVs2Let’s hit the valley where the mountains follow us aroundGot the stereo playing, and whatever you’re sayingHas got me laughing right out loud.I don’t really care when we get thereThere’s nowhere I’d rather beLike a fine wine, it’s gonna take some timeDoing nothing and everythingPrechorus2Don’t want to miss a moment of thisBlue sky and meadow greenI’ve seen it all before but I love it moreWith every new memoryChorus 2Got a good time, feel good, get away dayGive me the sky and a mountain rangeThe road ahead is a free wayFor a good time, feel good, get away dayChorus 3Got a good time, feel good, get away dayBreathing it in like the air is ChampaignThe road ahead is a free wayFor a good time, feel good, get away dayChorus TagIt’s a good time (The wind blowing in my hair)Just to feel good (On the way to anywhere)Such a good time, and I’m feeling goodOn a good time, feel good, get away dayWords and Music Copyright 2008 by Aub Delane and Ponch Satrio

Hey, Aub, I'm able to access TAXI links now....yea, let there be light. Wow, what a great song! It has a wonderful California feel to it.... a driving, feel good type song. It's a summer type song too, one you'll always remember because of the good times associated with it.....it will make a nice backdrop for the movie, I'm sure. I'm glad Mazz helped you out here, and congrats!

Hey Aub,As a Tulsa native I wanted to congratulate a fellow Oklahoman, and thank you for sharing this.Your song creates such a realistic atmosphere of riding in a convertible with the wind blowing through your hair!! You definitely captured something dynamic... and related it to us with words and notes.Awesome!

Great Job Aub! I didn't realize how much of a crunch there could be from getting the contract to supplying the track - truly impressive and a great tune.

Aub, you and Ponch hit it out of the park as I knew you would. The Gypsy Van rocks SF and India!!I always enjoy your "woo woo" vocals, it's a great touch!Dave, the film is going to be done by the Rally, in fact they want the score done by the 27th of this month. Holy crap, I have a lot to do before then, I think I'm going to miss by a couple of days but I'm getting close!!Aub, thanks again for adding your touch and getting it done so quickly!!Mazz
