First forward...Any others with these experiences.
Hi, just got my first forward on a song that had been rejected a couple other times...so hang in there those who are discouraged. I see a lot about film and tv placements, this forward was to a publisher, can anyone tell me about their experience with this? I am expecting not to hear anything for several months, if at all, but at least I'm encouraged to KEEP WRITING!

congrats on the forward!usually / in my experience it takes a couple of forwards until you acutally hear something from a listing party.anyhow, it doesn't make a diffrence if we as writers think about that - so just move on and do the next track... and have fun while doing so!cheers, martin

I'm on #8 right now PS - congrats on the forward!!!!!!!!!!!! and yes, you may or may not hear from them == but now you know that piece of music has merit & you can confidently pitch it elsewhere / keep it in your catalogue.PSS - I got my first publishing deal from my first instrumental forward. However, I have a song (co-written with Matto) forwarded 4 times out of 7 and no one's called yet

Thanks for sounding in, and I love the top 10! I will keep it in mind for sure. I need to move on to co-writing myself, since I haven't tried that yet, so I plan to attend a few local seminars and move in that direction. Look forward to meeting some of you at the Rally, it will be my first.

I am expecting not to hear anything for several months, if at all, but at least I'm encouraged to KEEP WRITING!I think of a forward as simply being a mechanism that places your music into the hands of the listing company. I used to think that it was just a whisker away from a deal but that's not really the case. They (the listing companies) get lots of music from lots of places so even though the music has more credibility than an unsolocited submission because of the pre-screened aspect, it still (usually) takes more than one pitch. That would be TOO easy although, if I remember correctly, "Stick" here on the forum got a nice deal from his first Taxi submission. I always secretly hope for a deal from my last submission but I'm actively focused on submitting for new opportunities. It's when people stand still waiting for results that the problems begin.

I used to think that it was just a whisker away from a deal but that's not really the case.A forward for me is almost as good as a deal... almost. It means that someone who listens to music constantly thinks my music was good enough to send to the next round. It's an investment, howbeit a small one, from them. And considering the talent of peers, it's awesome to even play in the same sandbox. And there's still a big payoff. The encouragement value is huge! It may be small forward motion.. but it's forward motion. That may be lost to the veterans who have moved past all that. That's just natural growth. When you're driving a Porsche, learning to ride a bike is no big deal nor will it win any Indy races. But when you're taking that first solo ride around the block.. well.. that's the cat's meow.Often, the only difference between failure and success is the encouragement you get along the way. Run with it
