First forward! - INSTRUMENTAL VERSIONS of PUBLIC DOMAIN CHRISTMAS SONGS

Post by Peterg » Sat Sep 05, 2020 12:54 am

Hi All,
Its great feeling to have something pass the first hurdle , I did a kind of hybrid orchestral version of "In the Bleak Midwinter" which is one of my favourite carols .

https://www.taxi.com/members/KuKo-0SmTc ... -midwinter

Several INSTRUMENTAL VERSIONS of PUBLIC DOMAIN CHRISTMAS SONGS are needed by a hard-working Music Library with distribution in over 35 countries that’s constantly landing cool placements in TV Shows.

They’re looking for quite a few Instrumentals that would fall in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:

"Jingle Bells"

"Silent Night" by Michael Bublé

"The First Noel" by David Archuleta

Although some of the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch.

Quoting the Company: "We're looking for Instrumentals that feel traditional and sweet with instrumentation like Piano, Guitars, sleigh bells, strings, music box, etc."

Please submit Instrumental renditions on Public Domain Christmas Songs that will get listeners in the holiday spirit! Your submissions should have top-notch production and a "traditional and sweet" sound – don't try to go too far out of the box here. Your Instrumentals can range from simple arrangements up to bigger, more fully developed productions; just be sure to stick as close to the songs' original melodies as possible so they're familiar to listeners.

TAXI Tip: If you’re going to be using samples or Virtual Instruments, please make sure they sound convincing and real. Please avoid submitting anything that sounds synthetic or obviously MIDI-driven and quantized.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please double check to make sure the Instrumentals you submit are truly Public Domain! In case you’re unsure if your pieces are in the Public Domain, here’s a link that will help:

Public Domain Christmas Songs

All submissions should clock in at about 2 to 4 minutes, give or take. Non-Faded, Button/Stinger endings will work best for this request. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Instrumentals you pitch for this request are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You must own or control your Master Rights. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020. TAXI # S200903PD

TAXI # S200903PD

Cheers

I think the link should work now, I made it public. I presume that's the way to do it..

Thanks! It’s actually not live piano. I used the piano in the East West Orchestra Gold library and performed it into Logic Pro. I am not a piano player. I recorded each part in one at a time: melody, bass, and took a few passes to fill everything out. Then went back to edit and add the pedal and reverb. I am pleased with the results for a trumpet player:)
