first library deal...
Hi, I've joined taxi one month and a half ago, and i received my first (non exclusive) contract offer today from a library for a song that was forwarded by taxi. This is cool! The only problem is that it happens earlier than i expected, and i'm still waiting for other responses as i submited this track for other listings, including labels... So i've asked them if i could have this offer on "stand-by" for at least a little while... Maybe i'm screwing myself asking that=)

Re: first library deal...
well, of course it's non exclusive, but i wouldn't be able to sign any exlusive contract for this song 'till 3 years... I think that if i wasn't new to taxi, i would have a better idea about what to do with that song. I just would like to know the result of some "label" (or else) submissions before signing this deal. It seems that they easily accept a lot of submissions (i checked their website), i'm not sure about what to think about that... the song could be lost in a huge catalogue, a sea of artists=) and i read on this forum that signing the same track on many libraries isn't a good thing. so "non exclusive" is kind of "exclusive" in way...

Hi PedroCongratulations on the library offer. I feel your dilemma. On the one hand you want to get your song placed, on the other you want the best deal possible. I'm with bmete about a bird in the hand, but maybe you could demand a short term reversion clause be written into your contract. If they can't sell it in a year or two, it all comes back to you. All in all, it's an enviable predicament to be in. Good luck.mewman

thanks for your advices. well, i think i'll wait a little before signing anything with them, i don't really know if this library is descent or not, i don't have any experience in this domain but i'm not in a hurry. Maybe i'm doing wrong, but nevermind, this is the game=)
