Terrific Mazz, I think you nailed what you were going for.Only thing I heard was one element--I think the Stylus grooves--sounded closer/drier than the orchestral parts. Might not matter, but it caught my ears.Vince

Re: First Piece of 2009!
Thanks for the listen everyone!Vince, thanks for the feedback, I definitely took that in to consideration. The thing with this kind of a piece is: How do you deal with the electronic sounds? Do you make them sound like they're in the room with the orchestra? In this case, my aesthetic decision was to treat is more as a hybrid sound and not try to emulate an orchestral sound explicitly. The woodwinds are already more upfront than they would be in an orchestral setting and some of the mallet percussion is dry and some is wet and so forth. There's no wrong decision, but there's plenty of directions that could be taken! I guess it's more of a Hollywood approach where they spot mic certain sections and will oftentimes isolate certain sections and blend them in later and so forth. These kinds of pieces are great fun because of the challenge of blending the synths and loops with the orchestral sounds and then getting a mix that works. It's a continual learning process. Great fun. Cheers!!Mazz

Great piece. I read the listing that asked for this kind of music but really had no clue which direction to go. This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Wow very cool! I think those textures do a nice job of adding movement and interest. That beginning melody is cool. I never realized that mixolydian sounded "curious" as a mode.

Excellent! I could really feel the depth in textures as you said. It had a floating feeling to it. Great work on the stereo imaging, it felt multi-dimentional to me! I could hear the groovy use of stylus in there, nice touch. Cheers

Nice work, Mazz. I found the sound very refreshing. Like a scoop of lemon sherbet after a heavy main course. I've been working on checking out all the articulations in EWQLSO and the cleanliness of your sound really struck me. Good luck!Mewman
