Floyd-ish Trance Song

Post by ernstinen » Thu Apr 14, 2011 4:22 pm

Hey All,

I've been mulling this song around in my head, and finally decided to lay down some tracks.

This is pure psychedelia! The piece is called "Drift With The Tide."

The "lyrics" ---

The oarsman
Believes in himself
Trusts in himself
Does not lean on his oars
Believe --- Believe
Does not lean on his oars
Drift with the tide
Drift with the tide

(c) 2011 L. John Ernst

TURN IT UP!

Thanks for listening,

Ern 8-) :)

Ern, this is like going back in time. I can smell the patchouli. Interestingly, though, I can hear all sorts of modern electronic effects in there. Love to hear how it develops.

Here ya go again.

That powerful chord at 12 sec etc is something else. That is why you wanted me to turn it up. I nearly soiled myself.

Could you let that chord have a tail and fade slowyl. It gets snubbed at the end. Maybe you like it that way, but the whole song is so lazy and that is the only thing that is at all harsh.

Wild ride man, now finish it:)

Thankfully, while growing old is compulsory, growing up remains optional!

Thanks, Nick & Paul! Paul, you're too young for "Depends." As far as the chord tails, they DO have tails. I'm using a really old version of ProTools, and the fades suck. Gonna upgrade soon.

Nick, there are SOME effects, but my favorite was using a large metal mixing bowl and swishing water around, stereo miked. See cat photo in General Discussion.

BUT, the vocal effect is another story. I got out my old Tascam 22-2 reel-to-reel, and was going to do a backward tape thing. Didn't work. It worked before I moved. Sooo, I found a backward program in my new Lexicon MX200. Pretty trippy!
