adrienne: Lots of people here have had a conversation re: lyrics vs. tunes. One of the people on this thread didn't like the opening verse of the first song on my CD, which I gave to you at the Taxi Convention. A few monhts ago, I posted my objection to the screener's critique of the first verse of this song on the the "Screener Shootout" thread , and this person had to pop up on that thread, and give me a critique: "I don't care for this at all". This person never heard the rest of the lyrics, never heard the melody of the song. I didn't post on peer to peer, so I thought the taxi member was out of line coming after me on the Screener Shootout thread. I'd like your opinion of that one song, and by the way, I finally got forwarded. Ottp.s. If I want a critique from Taxi members, I'll post on peer to peer. If I want to respond to a screener, I'll go to screener shootouts. Unless you want to give me constructive feedback (as a few of you did), don''t give me "I don't care for it at all," especially if you haven't heard the entire production on the Screener Shootout page. And especially if all you've read(not heard, musically) is the first verse of a song (in print) (no music). Sorry, this has been ticking me off for a few months.

(spelling) singing without music? so you can have a song with only a voice and lyrics with no music. existed way before the first instrument was ever invented.sounds the same to me.Doca song does not need accompliament to be a songif one is singing a melody, with words, that is a song couldn't agree with you more.this is what i have said from the start.an instrumental is not a song. it only takes lyrics and a voice.this does in deed create a song.an instrumental is not a song under these descriptions.Doc

I've listened to this song again, paying attention to the first verse especially. I think the critique you got was a bit harsh but I do have some feedback for you. I like the lyrics but I'm not sure if it sets up your hook strong enough. The reason being is that I see your song about why they love a Rolls Royce. But the song starts out talking about the 2 girls walking in Bev Hills and being the main attraction. I think a little tweak to make them driving and being the main attraction would make more sense in the context of your song. Because then it's not so much the girls that are the attraction but the girls in the car. That leads better into your chorus. Just my two cents. I hope it's helpful! Adrienne

Adrienne: Thanks for your feedback, it was constructive. Once I figure out how to do it, I'll post the song on peer to peer. There's an interesting thing going on here: even though the chorus (and one verse) keep repeating "we prefer to sip champagne in the back of a Rolls Royce", you're not the only one who thinks these two ladies want a Rolls Royce. That's not what they want, they want a guy who's rich enough to have a Rolls Royce, has the good taste to pick them up, and give them the opportunity to share his wealth. While they share something else. Yeah, I know. Once you have to start explaining your lyrics, you know there's something wrong with the song. I'll work on it, thanks for responding.Ott
