Gave up guilt when I left the ol' school girl uniform behind. You know, cute little skirts and knee socks, nuns and rulers and all that.

Re: Forum Newbies... a few thoughts + FAQ
Well hello to those of you who are newbies like me, those much more accomplished, the real singing and playing artists (and i have heard some really good music at some of your home pages) and to the taxi pros.I joined back in early November so i'm just a few weeks into this.I'm old, retired, living in Red River NM after leaving Dallas Tx where i spend my winters at hunting and fishing and traveling in my RV. Got a cabin in the mountains for summer fun.Never thought i'd ever be in a place like this. Moreso because i really don't belong here than anything else but after 35 years of picking and grinning, having a voice for print and a face for radio i figured i'd take my $50 yahama fg35 (black and red lable-the good one LOL!) and see what i could do with my old stuff.I have a publishing company called RiverCityMusic Publishing that has handled my poetry, childrens books and a novel for Harlequin. Raised my kids by myself and they're all on their own except for the money part. I'm still Daddy Bank and Trust.Really am impressed with a bunch of you out there. You're really good, i mean it. Anyway all i'm looking for is some sort of outlet that i can expose myself, oops, i mean express myself in and see where if at all it may take me.Be gentle, i'm old, most likely won't make it through the night (joking), so be kind. Most of all BE HONEST! It's not worth anything if you're not Honest with me. Hell i've been married so the hard part of life has been accomplished!Best to you all.Doc

HiI am another newbie. Sounds like premature birth or something! Oh well...I just wanted to let you know that I checked out your songs and I thought they were great! i think you have a great voice, goes great with the Yamaha guitar, easy and accessible melodies, great titles and lyrics, and a fantastic sense of humor. You made me smile! I have no idea how you can go about furthering your singer/songwriter career, but I'm sure someone here does.Anyway, I say just keep going. It sounds like you've figured out a balance that many of us would envy! Good luck,Ellen

Yes, we are friendly, if you read the post at the top of the thread, it gives a little advice on how to fit in. If you come in with a friendly attitude, don't think you're any more God's gift to music than the rest of us, hang out, review other people's stuff, say a kind word when we're down, celebrate our little successes, crack up at our bad jokes & make a few of your own... you'll have friends for life
