Here's the story, and why I'm thrilled.
Last year I submitted a track for a similar opportunity, and it did not get forwarded, but was returned with some constructive criticism. I was crushed. You know when you work on a piece and you think, "THIS is IT! I mean, the last 40 or 50 were good, but this one is GREAT!! There's absolutely no way it won't get forwarded." And then it doesn't get forwarded.
Anyway, I worked on other things, kept up the "Write, submit, repeat" cycle, and no similar opportunities came up for a long time.
Then this one did, and I thought, "Great! I can rework my piece based on the feedback from TAXI and resubmit it." Yeah... no. I listened back to it and decided that it wouldn't work at all, and it was better to start back at square one. So I did, came up with something new, incorporated everything I had learned in the past year or so, and it worked - I got the forward!
Now, of course, all that's left is for CNN to pick it up for one of their prime time shows, and I'm set.

Thanks for the kind response. And yeah, world events being what they are, I try to stop checking my phone every 5 minutes and focus on music for a while each day, just forget all the bad stuff for a while.
