Forward on VIETNAM WAR ERA Song!

Post by Tunesmith » Wed Feb 14, 2018 5:47 pm

Hi All,

I am happy to announce my 2nd collaborative forward! And it is with a music pal who was drafted then. He was against the war. I lost my 24 year old cousin in the war. I will never forget that era..all the turmoil.

Here is our song:

ORIGINAL, Late 1960’s – Early 1970’s-Style, “VIETNAM WAR ERA” SONGS with Male Vocals

He used to be a TAXI member..think he will be re-joining soon!

Best to you,
Linda C

Yep - it sounds listing & era-appropriately 'vintage'; well done.

Thank you Peter, Graham and Kit! Yes..we followed the Ohio sample in the lisitng. Neil wrote that song, but it is mainy Stills doing the electric..a great book to read is Graham Nash's autobiography. "Wild Tales: A Rock & Roll Life" He mentions a lot about the dynamic of those 2 guitar wizards! And then the dynamic of their differences!

I have a childhood friend whose brother has been Neil's manager for over 30 years!

I had put down the whole rhythm guitar part with sample vocal and Tom did his electric part..exactly what I had envisioned. He told me that he had a band later and that was one of the songs he learned and played in it.

It was really great to do together..we were a duo for 1 year in the 80's..

Linda congrats

The song really captures where we were all at .....during those times
You got the interesting melodic part in and all the lyric pictures
This is your protest sign in song

Good luck with this

Thank you very much Don! The song really means a lot to me and my co-writer. He was drafted and left boot camp in Texas. Disguised himself with civilian clothes and hitchhiked back to New England. He was so against the war. He was arrested and went to jail for that.

I lost my cousin who was 24. His term of 2 years had just 2 weeks left. He was killed in an ambush.

No matter what happens with this song, we are grateful for the opportunity/assignment to pen the tune!

Best of luck to you as well in your music!

Linda
