Forward Ratio - I'm a retard

Post by fusilierb » Mon Feb 01, 2010 4:45 pm

I've seen some folks here who have all these cool spread sheets that they are using to calculate their forward ratio's and track their progress. For some reason, I wanted to make my own. I created a spreadsheet with all the data and went to write the formula to calculate the forward Ratio and realized that I'm about as smart as mud when it comes to math. I'm pretty good at beating two sticks together, and can count both sticks, but can't figure out what the formula is to calculate my ratio.

Anyone? Is this thing on??

Really? That simple huh?
Thanks, if anyone's looking for any math tutoring, my schedule appears to be wide open.

Cool... I've been wanting to ask something similar relating to this question...
When U calculate a forward, does it count as 1 submission for a listing? or do we count each individual song that got forwarded & returned?.. as each submission can have many songs & not all get forwarded...
Say, if I got 2 out of 5 songs forwarded for that 1 listing...
Does that count as 1F or does that count as 2F & 3 returns?...

Thx

Cool, we can form a club Kel.
I'm treating each piece as a submission, not each listing. Now that I can do the calculation and have done it, I wish I hadn't. Some figures are not meant to be seen. But this year (based off one submission) I'm currently at 100%. So if I stop submitting now, I can finish with a perfect year! :D

instead of keeping tabs, why not just write more songs? Why not see if you can get your songs per week ratio higher?

A little bit curiousity and a whole lot of procrastination is why. ;)

No reason you can't do both. Especially now that the grueling math challenge has been conquered! :)

Well thankfully the first task was a one shot deal and is now over. After it was all said and done, it turned out that I can't seem to find a reason to care about a forward ratio, or any ratio's for that matter, unless they are placement ratio's, which at this point in time are super easy to calculate as they are zero.

As far as "songs per week". I don't really do "songs" ;) Nor do I really do any music "per week" unless under a deadline or being paid. Not that I couldn't write multiple pieces per week, but the orchestra fiddle farting around to get the performance sounding good still takes me a lot of time. Not in that big of a hurry.

Besides my head's still reeling from all that grueling math. :P
