Forwards and Returns
1st post at Taxi. I never let returns bother me here as each screener has different taste. Some tunes of mine have been forwarded by one and the same tune returned by another for the same type of project. Some tunes that were returned have already been signed to film production/publishing companies in the past to be used in the same projects. Some old timers here probably know that even then that doesn't mean they will find their way to film. The publishing companies pitch their library just like we pitch here. Even getting signed doesn't mean success. When the contract runs out you have the option to have all rights returned to you if the tunes were never used. Some tunes returned have also been placed in the permanent audio library of Youtube to be used in any video. Over 1000 were made using the music, some for projects similar to those offered through Taxi. Yet at times here they get returned. Btw, after contacting Youtube through their parent company Google and asking how they incorporated my music without my knowledge, their reply was "It's a great album". That's all well appreciated but it's also absolutely free. I get nothing but free publicity and because of that I naturally let the issue rest. The album has since been removed for reasons unknown but many of the videos are still up. All of this leads to the fact that no music ever written in history has hit a homerun with everybody. Your screener may rave but the tune fall short of others at the destination. Your screener may disapprove as well but that doesn't mean he/she is right. The tune may have been exactly what the customer wanted. So like all things the rule is "right place, right time". After 50 years in the biz there's no reason to get anxious.

Re: Forwards and Returns
I completely agree. I've had songs returned for "music" that have been on television. Taxi screeners have different tastes and your goal should always be to get the music into the hands of the person who makes the final decision. If you only have one hoop to jump through, you have a better chance at success.
