After taking apart my Yamaha DGX-200 to see why the C above middle C wasn't working, I found out the problem: the part of the contact strip that hits that key was ripped. The little contact part actually fell out. Phoned Yamaha for the part number, and as soon as Yamaha gets around to emailing me so I can log in, I can order the part and get the music going again!
While I was in there, I added some graphite to the rest of the contact spots, so they all sound better now. Also got rid of years' worth of dust. (Have to make a cover for it, I guess. Something dustproof would be nice.)
Cheers,
Merry

Congrats Merry!
Ah the joys and frustrations of fixin' stuff!
Tearing something apart is fun...
Keeping details/pictures while tearing apart is not as fun...
Were you Pebbles or Bam Bam?

Re: Found Out What's Wrong with the Keyboard
Hey, Cass!
At least other people have taken their keyboards apart and shared the details on YouTube, so I didn't destroy mine trying to get the cover off!
I took only one photo. Probably should have done better...
I had registered at the Yamaha Parts online site, but never did find the activation email until this morning (in the s p a m folder, where I didn't think to look, although I had checked j u n k), by which time, it had expired. Attempted to reregister using the same email, but it wouldn't let me, so I had to use a backup email instead, but I FINALLY got into the site. Now all I need is the money to buy the contact strip.
(Payday's not until next week.)
Pebbles or Bam Bam?
Hmm? (Well, gender-wise, it'd be Pebbles.)
And yes, taking things apart is fun. Been doing that since I first tried to figure out what made my toy piano work, when I was just a little over a year old. (And didn't my grandfather have a hard old time trying to fix it!
)
Cheers,
Merry
