FREE STUDIO TIME! Singer/Lyricists NEEDED

Post by JayPitch » Tue Aug 02, 2011 9:43 pm

I have a day job, and spend many nights in my home studio. As a multi-instrumentalist, I can do everything musical EXCEPT provide a strong vocal presence.

I am looking for someone who can sing, write lyrics and has a good sense of melody. I have plenty of instrumental pieces that are suited for a vocal, which is where you come in.

Styles: Rock, Pop, Funk, Metal, Ballad, whatever happens to emerge. You don't have to sing them all. Having a few collaborators would be great.

What I get:
A polished vocal performance that truly transforms an instrumental into a song.

What YOU get:
For every completed song (successful marriage of vocals to music in both our minds) of mine, I'll produce one for you. I'll help with the writing (if desired), play the instruments, mix, and provide you with everything shy of mastering to both our satisfaction.

I have plenty of examples of songs I've produced and played on in my studio, along with some of the instrumentals for you to check out here:

How?
We'll email files back and forth. You'll play the tracks and record yourself singing along.

What you'll need:
A way to capture good vocals. Any computer with a sound card, some software and a decent microphone. If your serious, I can help steer you into a reasonable setup.

What's the "DEAL?"
I keep 100% of my tunes. You keep 100% of your tunes.

I'm doing a LOT of work by comparison, so this is definitely more than fair from my perspective. You are getting a band, engineer, mixer, with all the gear supplied. Real amps, real drums, real microphones. I think it is a win/win!

My musical intentions/target audience will be music for TV, advertising, movies, etc. I'm not likely going to be targeting any artists.

Contact me at jaypitch@msn.com if you are interested. Thank you.

Jay,

The "link" you posted only goes to the TAXI "login" page.

Are you a TAXI member?

Sorry about the bad link. Here is the right one:

The first 2 songs are by Eden Marie. I produced, mixed and played the instruments. Recorded in my home studio.

Most of the remaining are work in progress instrumentals I've been creating lately. Collaboration needed!!!

The others with vocals are my old band "Wrestling Rumors" (I played bass), tracked & mixed in my home studio

That link didn't work for me either Jay. :(

I found a working link here:

I liked your tracks, but you seem to mix the drums a little too quiet and roomy (wet) for my ears. It's making your mixes lack punch and clarity, IMHO. :)

Wow, I seem to be all thumbs with the links...

Finally, I believe I have it.

Regarding the mixing, only the cuts with vocals have any mixing time on them. The instrumental jams intended for collaboration are admittedly not mixed very well (because they are very quick/basic rough mixes).

Thanks for checking it out!

Hey Jay,

I'd like to share some info with you if you're open...

I'm sure you are. If I may say so it sounds like you've not written, and/or collaborated on a song before. Let me know ok?

What you are proposing here is not "producing."

Instead - you are having someone write melody and lyrics for you. You even use the term "collaborator" but I don't think you understand what that means when you say
"What's the DEAL? I keep 100% of my tunes. You keep 100% of your tunes."
Before I show a lyric or melody to a "collaborator" or enter it in a contest I copyright the lyric and melody with the (LOC) Library of Congress. That's because lyric and melody are copyrightable while (most) chord progressions belong to everyone - which is what you are offering.
