Funeral for an iPod

Post by Casey H » Mon Nov 19, 2007 6:33 am

My iPod died yesterday... I've become so dependent on it. I have 600-700 songs on it and use it almost exclusively in the car... almost never listen to the radio, although I do have a 6-CD player. It's like my own personal radio station- I just put it on random shuffle and let it rip... I also became dependent on it for working out at the gym... I don't recall what it was like working out without it, especially for running or walking... I have most of the songs in iTunes on my PC so when I buy a new one I will still have most of the songs... The new one, "iPod Classic", is $249... Yikes! I don't want the Nano ($149) because I have some accessories that are not compatible... Casey

Casey, what killed it?I am on my second battery, and have brought one back from a watery grave.

I'm not gonna cry over an Ipod... I just wont. But I must say, this has to be one of the saddest posts I've ever read. Casey - From the bottom of my heart ... I hope you find peace somewhere

Quote:Casey, what killed it?I am on my second battery, and have brought one back from a watery grave. This one is pretty old. It's dead and won't take a charge whether from a wall charger, PC, etc... It could be the battery but it also could be something else like the charging circuit or the internal disk... Probably not worth buying a battery at this point since opening it is risky and it could be something else... Maybe I'll spread its ashes over some special place... Casey

the battery change is very simple (once you get it open). i think i bought my battery for less then $30 on the internet.if it's an excuse to buy a new one, go for it. if you want to save over 200, it's worth a shot.if it works in the cradle, but doesn't hold a charge, then it should be the battery (as they are notoriously bad on the older units)

It's an old mini... I'm pretty sure it's not the battery because it is dead as a doornail when connected to the wall charger, car charger, or USB. Usually with a bad battery you will get some response with the wall (non-trickle) charger. It could be the disk or the circuitry... I think it's time to buy something new...Appreciate the input! If you think you can fix it, I'll send it to you... Just PM me the address. Casey
