Hey Mazz!You know what? I'm seeing more & more of that these days. Left handers playin' upside down. Years ago, I thought I was the only one, because I would never see anyone else playin' like that. This past year, I saw at least 3 bass players on TV playin' that way. But playin' a right-handed guitar left-handed looks really awkward. I had to start purchasing left-handed guitars and re-stringing 'em just so it wouldn't look so weird.Quote:I know this song and what the hell chords are those? I would imagine a Strat would be a different animal. I guess Hendrix flipped it over but re-strung it so it would be "normal", right? I seem to remember something about that.Keep rockin!Mazz

Hey there....I guess if you end up using a right-guitar strung up backward, the input would really get in the way....I have a student with this problem, For teaching it works because we sit across from each other, so it's like looking in a mirror....Interesting....how we all play.....I designed a bass double strap, so I have equal weight on both shoulders, and I can play for hours and hours without a shoulder ache....the basses I play resemble a piece of furniture....Dan, I'm totally dumb when it comes to forum etiquette.....sorry your thread turned into guitar-talk.....it's easy to do with me around....Vickyanyone know what PM means in forum lingo....

Hey guys, sorry it took me a minute to get back to everyone here, craziness has been going on But first of all, thanks for all of the positive feedback! I'm glad you guys liked the piece.Second, I'm glad it sounds like a live band, definitely what I was going for. It's not, but here's what I used: First, I used EZ Drummer (which is killer btw!) to create the drum groove. I love it because it is really easy to create a completely life-like performance. I think it took me at max about 15 minutes to get that whole drum track together, which I like because being able to do things quickly is really important to me! Then, after the drums, I laid that bass line down using my Line 6 Variax Bass through my brand new Pod X3. Then I played all the guitar tracks through the POD, as well, and finally recorded my roommate playing sax over it. So, everything is essentially live instruments, which definitely helps with that authentic feel. I don't really know that I have any secret about making it sound any certain way...I guess I just try to put as much feel and "grit" as I possibly can into everything I play!HTH,DanBTW, no worries about turning into guitar talk...I'm a guitarist myself, so what do I care

EZ Drummer is a fantastic tool! I used it on my funk piece too. Not being a guitar player, I used this thing called a keyboard to play my stuff. Sometimes I even used 9 or 10 of my fingers at one time! Good work Dan!!

Dan...I'm impressed with that drum sound......I thought I even heard a mistake-ish thing that sounded live....I mean that in a good way...Vicky

Thanks! One of the coolest things about it is that it (EZ Drummer) is that it has a humanize function that's really good at getting some "feel" in there....

Dan,So that's EZ drummer huh? I said before that that's the next program on my list of things to get. I like the sound of it. And I definitely love anything that's easy to use. Cuts the time factor waaayy down. Both you & mazz had me fooled a little there. But that's the whole idea, right?Mazz: Yeah, I think you're right about Hendrix. From what I can gather, he liked having his volume, tone, and whammy bar close to his picking hand. I've watched dvd's that I have of him playing, and I can see how easily he had access to all of this. And of course, he just changed his strings around.Vickytbp: For Fender guitars, it wasn't too much of a problem because the input was at an angle, but for Fender basses & some other guitars, if the input is directly on top and you use a straight plug-in cord, then yeah, it can be a problem. I was using 90 degree angled plug-in cords when I had right-handed guitars & basses, so that kinda' eliminated the problem. That was another reason for me to start purchasing left-handed guitars & basses.ibanez468
