Hey Owen, is it okay to include your contact e-mail in the Lyrics part when you are tagging? iTunes 12.1 for Mac doesn't have a "Comments" box to put your contact e-mail, like the website you gave suggested.

Hey Terrell, the Comments field may not be there by default. If you are looking at a file's properties in iTunes look for the "add fields" button and you'll be able to add the Comments field among a host of other fields if you need them.

Within the song list display, the fields appear across the top, listing song name, duration, etc. right click there and a menu should appear to allow you add other fields.

whenever someone suggests a way of tagging your tracks, they seem to recommend itunes (even michael the boss did that on taxi tv). but the simplest solution seems to be what the tread starter mentioned, right click on the file-properties-detail. fairly straighforward. why don't anyone mention this procedure...?

You could, for MP3's. But its a bit more flexible in iTunes as you can other fields that arent included in the file properties. The right click I mentioned before was done within iTunes to include other categories in the columns.

This works well for the simple and most important (title, contact info, etc) tag fields for mp3s. So this is what I do before uploading an mp3 to Taxi or emailing an mp3 (or link to download one) to a potentially interested party.

However, if a library/publisher requests a tagged .aiff file, it's best to use iTunes as the way to make sure the tags stick in what you send them. It's a tiny bit complicated at first until you get the hang of it. You set your iTunes preferences to import songs as .aiff (bit rate and sample rate per requested such as 16 bit, 48K), import the tracks, and tag them. Then (very important), use the iTunes option to create .aiff file version. This will create new copies of them with the tags. Make sure you know what folder those new copies are going into and use those.
