General listing question - Supervisor forwards

Post by ChrisMorris » Sat Jun 18, 2011 5:20 pm

Hey guys!

If a listing mentions that the supervisor himself will be screening all submissions, and then you get a forward, what does this mean?

In my forward it mentions that the song was forwarded to the supervisor - does this mean everyone got forwarded? Or that the supervisor screened my song and accepted it?

Thanks for any insight :)

It means the supervisor screened your song and accepted it for AT LEAST another look-see. What happens is the supervisor does the screening and takes copies of the ones he/she thinkss are fits. Those fits are the forwards. It is not a guaranteed placement. The music supervisor may whittle down which ones to keep on file, keep all of them on file, or try out some in some film/TV scenes to see what works. But you're in the game-- gotta be in it to win it! 8-)

I find that a forward where the listing party is doing the screening is one of the best you can get. There's no middleman. Your track is in the hands of either a library owner, a music supervisor, an ad agency, etc. Not too shabby... Again, no guarantees... But a very favorable introduction!
