Global Collaboration

i don't get many forwards these days...upwards of none total but I'm trying . this time I'm asking my taxi family a favor (like I've done many many times before.) I've been collaborating with an artist, from of all places, Australia. we just finished a pretty soulful hip-hop song with the help of a good friend of mine and a lot of emailing back and forth.for those of you with trained ears-try not to be too harsh on us because the equipment is limited.fl-studiocubase$10 usb mic(singer)korg microkontrol anda pair of headphonesi usually send him a rough, looped pattern and he writes, records his verse on the rough and sends it back. if we like what we here, he sends the dry vocals i build the beat in FL (breaks, instruments, samples etc.) export the mp3 (i know it should be a wav) load the mixed beat along with his vocals in cubase and start surgery. journii sang into a cheap usb mic in my bedroom. this time i applied slight compression while recording:-24 thres2:1 ratio2.5 db gainbefore adding a little reverb, delay and cutting a little around 300hz, because her voice tends to get heavier as she gets tired, and boosting around 7-8k. knockout is usually cut a little around 90-250, depending on what i hear, very slight reverb and compression.enough of my pointless rambling the song is herehttp://myspace.com/knockout2by4 it's called Long Walk in Boston-yes the vinyl noise is there on purpose please let me know what you guys think when you get a chance-and be honest.thanks to all in advance
impossible is what I've already done because I was told I couldn't, so please find another way to motivate me...
