Goals, wishes for 2014?
So, for those post-Rally and for those Rally-less... looking ahead to 2014, any goals you're thinking of setting... and steps to work towards them?

The main goal I set after the Rally is networking and following up with people I met. So far I've been emailing a couple people a day.
What would you do if you knew you wouldn't fail?

As cliche as it sounds, my goal is to work "smarter" rather than "harder" in my studio and produce my tracks the right way, armed with all the great knowledge I got and people I met at the Rally. In fact, the day after returning home I collaborated on a submission with a talented new friend I met in the registration line!
Incidentally, for those who have never been to the Rally and may be considering it, take it from someone who just went to his first. Do it. Just do it. It will make you look at your career in a whole new way.

I hope somebody on this site (preferably me) gets a major cut. My best wishes to everyone who is still giving it a shot! Ott

Alex - that is an awesome goal, not cliche at all. Something to strive for every day, in every way.
For 2014 my goal is to double my output in two areas: quantity, and quality. The first is very measurable. The second a little less, but hey... I can tell.
Ott, for me, every track is a major cut, whether picked up or not. If I commit to doing what I do 110%, then I'm in, in my own heart and mind. And that matters to me more than "the majors" or really anything else. Acknowledgement is awesome, but just doing something to the best of my ability... that's a 'major' reward in itself.
But... to your point. I don't know everyone on the forums, or of course at taxi, but... wasn't katy perry a member (as well as a screener) at one point? I'd bet there's others.

Re: Goals, wishes for 2014?
I lost a great co-writer in 2012 due to illness (she had to give up singing), and I haven't fully recovered from loosing that working relationship (we had a great teamwork).
So, for 2014 I hope to find one or two co-writers who also can sing and produce in the americana and singer/songwriter genres that I work mostly in. Preferably some who shares my love for jazz and blues too, and is good on piano/keys (to supplement my guitar skills) and who shares the ambition of doing more music for tv & film.
Lots of specifics, I know, but other than playing keys and singing, the rest are not really requirements. I'd just love to do more regular work with a co-writer, preferably female, because it gives more options when writing lyrics and for doing backing vocals as well. I stress the differences in skills, because it can help to share some of the workload when producing everything yourself and make studio work more fun.
I haven't been looking very hard yet, but now it's out there. That's what I'm hoping for. I'm not sure about the steps, though, as it's hard to make contact online without coming off as needy or pushy, so I guess I'd just try to write some really good music and see if that can attract someone that can be a good match.
My biggest wish is to get a great team going. I can be a bit geeky about some things, but I consider myself easy going
