RichardGood to see you back. Got a quick link and lyrics posted. You are good to go man.Really like the song. The guitar work is excellent. This is very good for being live. It will sound 1,000 percent better when done in a studio.Got me goin when "her clothes fell off" too Don't be discouraged if not too many respond. It seems to be very slow here lately.Your band is tight!SincerelyPaul

Richard.... Your music falls right into that blues/downhome country vibe... which is basically where I've heard all of your tunes fall so far. You've got a good Willy Nelson vibe to your stuff. To answer the question you asked Paul about making demos... In today's extremely competitive songwriting market, you must give the screeners no reasons to turn away from your song. Production has become a more and more important part of selling songs, in that it gives listeners a clear picture of your vision for the song... and production has gotten more affordable in the digital age, giving more people access to creating a solid demo. And remember, you are competing against every other writer out there.Demos don't need to be perfect, but muddy live recordings will not be able to compete with the thousands of other songwriters who submit demo quality productions. Most people in the biz don't have the time to hear creatively, which means that you need to either get into a studio or start thinking about how you can otherwise up your production value.Hope that helps

RichardZoom just told you the absolute truth.I record just for fun and have not had any success. (haven't even tried) I just do it fo the fun of it.You don't need a fancy recording studio to produce decent CD's. I only have a very basic setup that is run by the computer. (Dell XP)Just being on this forum tells me you have computer skills, so you could do this very easily.I record one track at a time. I start with a metrodome type drum pattern and record say five minutes. I have a drum machine for that. There are cheaper ways to go. Then the bass, drums, rythm guitar, lead, and last the vocal. You could have your whole band over and record multiple tracks, but then the equipment gets more complicated and expensive. I can record up to four tracks, but almost never more than two. Usually only one. That is not saying the whole band couldn't be playing. You would just have to record one track at a time.I have the cheapest software. It is called cakewalk studio two. I upgraded to six but have never used it because it looks more complicated. I think it sells for about $150 (might be wrong there) It helps to have a mixing board (small one). I have a Mackie 1604. Overkill for sure. It is also nice to have a couple speakers for playback, but not necessary if you only have headphones. I use my software like a tape recorder. I'm sure I only use 5% of it's total capabilities. Don't make em for old farts. I am sure you would catch on quickly.I thinkthe best thing for you is to find someone in your area that does home recording and watch the process. Don't look to learn on an elaborate studio. Next question is there a market out there for your music. Not to break you heart bud, but I would say no. Only because it does not have a "current" flavor. Unless you can hear it being played on the radio, I just don't know?????? The next forum guy might say otherwise. I love the stuff, but i am old and don't buy music anymore.Well, enough rambling. If you want to gab sometime, my number is 906-542-6421. Paul

Well, I'm not sure about the market... I'm not a huge country guy... It's tough for sure, but here's a real kicker for ya. If you get an album produced of your 10 best songs or so (even a partial album would be OK, but I would suggest going in for more than one or two songs), you could sell the albums at shows and online, pitch them to movie/tv listings as well as song pitches here and other places. You give yourself a lot more opportunities to make money off of your songs that way. And in this business (as in most) you gotta spend money to make money. It's something to think about anyway. And if you can get your band rehearsed for performing in the studio beforehand, you can at least minimize your time spent recording and save some money that way.Or, you can go with a home setup as Paul said... or find someone with one (which might be a better way to do it as some programs have steeper learning curves than others).Either way, when you're producing something like this, you have to know your best songs... talk to your friends and family, the rest of the band. You'll find which ones float. And, if that doesn't work, try getting one of the screeners at taxi to take a whack at it with a personal critique. You'll find out exactly where you stand with those guys!Best of luck
