GOT HALF A SURPRISE TODAY...
I'm totally shocked that this one made it through. Didn't make it last time I submitted. But I have worked on the mix 2 or 3 times since then. (9/29/2008) Oh well...I guess ya' just never know. CONTEMPORARY ACTION DRAMA INSTRUMENTAL COMPOSERS are sought by an established Film Composer who is joining forces with well-known/veteran Music Supervisor to create a production music catalog for Film and TV. They are not looking to license tracks but are hoping to find talent that they can commission new work from. They are looking to collaborate with composers who have excellent programming skills, the newest sample libraries and a commanding knowledge of their own sounds and techniques to the point where they can turn around a complex assignment quickly. IMPORTANT: For this particular listing, they want to hear examples of high impact Electronica, Trip-Hop, Rock, Metal, which is or can be mixed with lighter orchestral elements and percussion. NO VOCALS and compositions must be CUTTING EDGE. ALSO PLEASE NOTE: We originally ran this as listing #Y090217IN and the Composer has some people he is interested in but definitely wants to hear more. If you submitted to the listing referenced, please send in new material this time around. Please submit two to three compositions online or per CD, include bio. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Tuesday, August 11, 2009. TAXI #Y090811ADIn The ZoneThis is the one that hasn't been able to make the cut. This was the 2nd time around for this tune, possibly the last. Worked on the mix 2 or 3 times for this one too. Both screeners (2 different ones) checked "Recording" as the issue.Cross The Lineibanez468

Hey Bruce, good to see you around!! Congrats on the forward!! In The Zone lives up to it's name!!Cross The Line reminds me of John Powell's music for The Italian Job. I'd go listen to that for ideas on how to vary the drums. IMO that's what's holding this one back. Hope it's OK to give some feedback in a congratulations post!!Way to go!!Mazz

Hey Derek! Thanks for the congrats and the listen. If it was a high bar listing, I sure didn't know. Hey Mazz! Thanks alot! Yeah, you could be right about the drums. I just wish the screener had mentioned that, if that was the problem. I'll go back and work on 'em, should be a relatively easy fix, I think. Been spending time trying to make things sound better, gettin' better mixes, and tryin' ta' crack the almighty "broadcast quality" code. Oh, and sure, feedback in a congratulations post is fine with me. No prob. Thanx for the listen!Hey Jeff!Thanx for listenin'! And congrats to you on your most recent sucesses too.Hey Mark!Thanx alot! 'Preciate the listen.Hey J!Thanx man. Glad you enjoyed it. I thought it might make the cut, but perhaps spending some time on the drum track could result in a more favorable outcome. I'll work on it. 'Preciate the listen.Hey Kel!Thanks M8! That first tune was done with your favorite drum program, AD. Yeah, I try my best ta' make sure that thing can be heard. Thanx for the listen!

I like "In The Zone" I can see why it was forwarded, congrats! If I had to venture a guess about the returns on "Cross The Line" I would say it may have something to do with the drums. I know for the style of music here the drums really don't have to be 'organic" sounding but I think some fills would kick it up another level.Of course this is just my 2cents and I'm usually a few pennies short!

Hey BillG!Thanks man! As far as the drums, I was thinkin' the same thing. I listened to some examples of electronica music online, and some of it I heard sounded quite different than what I had imagined. I did hear tunes with organic sounding drums & guitars and a bunch of stuff that I didn't know was being passed off as "electronica". That was a surprise! I expected to hear something totally different. I will be addressing that drum track in the very near future and make some serious modifications. Thanx for the listen! billg said: "Of course this is just my 2cents and I'm usually a few pennies short!" Nah, I think your 2 cents is worth it's weight in gold!
