Gotta ask

Post by playagibson » Thu Oct 20, 2011 12:58 pm

I've been getting a lot of returns with comments like " cool song, fun track, I would have forwarded this but... I enjoyed this immensely but... "
Are they just softening the blow or do they only comment like this when they like it but it isn't actually appropriate for said listing ?
I'm a new guy, I will admit I have lots to learn.
I've had two forwards, so I know I've done something right.
Just gotta ask.
Rich.

Usually I get no comment on the yes/no listings but this last one he/she softened the blow by saying "cool track, but..."
Probably depends on what screener you get.

A recent survey found that phrases like "This song sucked canal water so let me give you some tips to try to salvage something" received unfavorable reactions.

Oh... there is probably some social gracing going on there but it sounds too like you're getting additional feedback to improve. 8-) And if it did suck canal water they wouldn't say they liked it or would have forwarded it. My slew of returns when first joining Taxi revolved around not targeting the music to the listing. I would always get feedback that production values and overall sound were all good so I didn't have to worry too much about that. It's nice to narrow things down, to just work on what needs work, that's for sure.

Congrats on the forwards!

After posting this I got a forward on my Blue Jean entry. The sun's a lot brighter now ! lol
I was beginning to wonder if my style of writing was out of synch with what they're after.
You just have to be more anal about giving them exactly what they ask for. I have a natural tendency to put
my personal stamp on the songs regarding tones and drums sounds. Authentic means authentic !
The forwards for the surf tunes have authentic drums and guitars. My tune had more modern tones especially with the drums.
Live and learn !

Rich.
