Great Hooks
Hey there songwriters....so what happens when your last finished song has the greatest hook of any song you've ever written and now you can't think of another great one?How do I keep 'em coming? I've got plenty of good hooks, but not anymore GREAT ones.Andy

Re: Great Hooks
watch tv shows, I get some of mine from the tv or go up and down billboard charts and mix and match words, find phrases like git'r done and well I'll share one of mineI took git'r done and changed it into git'r goneAnother of mine is I took the phrase keep on keepin' on and turned it into keep on keepin' goneThere's still a lot out there that you can do that to

Re: Great Hooks
My most favourite hook of all time has to be "when I get where I'm going"Doubt I will ever write with a hook that good!

Re: Great Hooks
You'll have another. And another. It's keeping the desire to find one and keeping the subconscious working on it that brought you the ones you have. You've heard "What one man can do, another man can do."Well, "What you can do once... You can do again."At least, that's how I feel about it.I can see how you'd be intimidated by YOUR songs, though.

Re: Great Hooks
andy don't stress it man. just keep at it. the funny thing is in another year or two of steady writing you'll look back on this "best hook I ever wrote" from today and think "it's pretty good but what I'm doing now is much better". someone once asked paul macartney what his favorite song of all time was that he wrote. he responded" the next one" in other words even HE knew he could always do better. thats what keeps us going I guess!scott

Re: Great Hooks
All very good advice. I think Mojo's is probably the best...I just need to stop thinking and keep writing. Andy
