yeah, that is one of the techniques actually, yeah, he was actually....kind of...one of the teachers......damn you people, im supposed to be an enigma and stuff, haha

you can use a speaker generally, or an amp if thats what it is going too, and yes, you listen through the mic you are recording, into your head phones most times, to accurately hear what you are capturing and what your placement and mic selection does to the signal
