Greetings

Post by Dreambliss » Tue Mar 22, 2011 6:08 pm

Hi everyone. I just joined recently. My name is Luke but go by the alias Dreambliss for my "artist" name. I've been writing music off and on for about 13 years now (I'm 30). Most of my stuff was written in an old 16-bit MIDI program from about 13 years ago until 2007. I used SoundFonts and wrote everything in the event list view. I have no idea how I managed to write anything, yet deal with it for 10 years before cutting over to a DAW and using softsynths. I use Sonar X1 Producer Edition and I still write everything by hand, but this time in PRV mode, which is much easier! :). I mainly write instrumentals and am currently focused on an album I call "Surreal Nightmares" which is rock/metal/progressive/instrumental. I really enjoy creating music... it's in my blood and I can't live without it. Even if I'm the only listener.

I have yet to join TAXI as I want to finish my album first. I look forward to networking with other artists here and listening to some music!

Welcome Luke. This really is one of the best musical communities on the net, so dive in. Very few bite. :)

Your album sounds interesting. I'd like to hear it someday when you're done.

Thank you Kayle and Rob for the welcome. I'm sure I will fit right in here. I don't bite (much) either :)

Rob - I posted three songs from the album that are complete so far in the Peer To Peer section if you want to take a listen. The only tweaks I may make yet are production tweaks. I took a break for a few months after completing the third song and I'm trying to get back into it now. Let's see if I can find where I last left that creativity... here creativity! *whistles*

Ah, I didn't notice them in P2P, sorry. I'll have a listen later. Suffering insomnia at the moment: exhausted, nauseous, and likely to give a very blunt, unvarnished opinion. :D

No problem, Rob! Hope you feel better. I know insomnia all too well. I've had it out with him for many years now. He always wins :(

Welcome, Dreambliss! I've had the opposite situation recently: Sleeping TOO MUCH! --- What my M.O. has been is write and record for 12-18 hours, then sleep for 12-18 hours. Not a good idea, although I sure get a lot done in the first 12-18 hours!  --- Anyway, a lot of nice, tolerant people here that are open to many ideas and opinions.

Best,

Ern 8-) :)

Hey Luke. Welcome to the forum. your music sounds very interesting. I'll have to look over at P2P and give the tracks a listen. I'm another Sonar X1 Producer guy. I've used the sw since it was Cakewalk......Kinda like the devil you know I guess.....anyways, glad you're here......looking forward to hearing your music.

Derek.

Welcome Dreambliss! Actually it's a great idea to join the forum and taxi too before you finish your album - you won't be able to do as much with the critiques you will receive from Taxi if the album is already mixed and mastered. It's great to get those opinions before it's impossible to take any of them to heart. You can send in your songs too, for custom critiques as part of your membership, which can be very helpful. However, I'm sure you'll get some great advice and constructive feedback on the forum in P2P. In any case, once again Welcome!

Speaking as someone who still owns a Brother PDC-100 hardware MIDI sequencer (it still works, too) welcome to the fold! :D
