I haven't tested it (yet), but if it works as well as external triggers, it's a VERY cost effective solution!
oh wow! that looks hot. lets see how it works!

I like the possibility of post processing previously recorded guitar parts and extracting midi data from them. (jamorigin thingy) I will test this thing out and report back.

Yes, it's similar to Melodyne that way, bus a lot less expensive. Looking forward to your review, Sean :geek:

My vote is for Roland 13-pin pickups and Axon converters. I don't own a guitar syth as of yet, because I already have keyboards for inputting chordal stuff, and I can input single-note stuff faster with a wind controller than with the guitar.

well I tried it out - the standalone version - haven't tried it as a plugin in a DAW yet. : http://www.jamorigin.com/midi-guitar/

it seems to work pretty well for me. naturally, the quality of the triggering is variable depending on how clean you play. for $99, its kindof a steal.

its cool that it will integrate with existing controllers too, so i can use my expression pedal attached to my AKAI MPK88 at the same time.

Not sure how much I would use it honestly though - except if it were a jazz or funk think and I wanted a solo instrument that wasn't guitar - I could play it faster with more vibe (and notes lol) on guitar and then swap out the sounds.

Sure it was my doing and my hands, but I had a horrible time getting it to function and getting it to sound decent when it did. Stick with pressing forward on improving keys chops if this is any indication of what midi on guitar is like....

I haven't tried out the guitar midi program yet but I'll try the demo when I get my guitar back from the luthier.

A good trick I used to do years ago when i had a gr-50 and a gk-2a was to tie a bit of cloth or a sock around the neck of the guitar just at the headstock, enough to lightly mute the strings. I found I wasn't getting a many crazy mistake notes. The delay was godawful so I'm hoping things have come on since then.

Some two-handed tappers I know use heavy hair ties and roll them up over the nut onto the head stock when they don't need to mute the open strings.

Good idea, sadly my days of hair are long gone  :D Actually I think it was that tip for muting when tapping that gave me the idea in the first place with the midi synth.

I was checking out that jam origin program down in my friends over the weekend. Not bad. He is using an mbox and is working with a latency of 12ms as it is so I found it difficult to figure out how much of the latency was coming from the program itself. I'm looking forward to getting my own guitar back and demoing it with my babyface. I don't know where hardware synths are these days but I wasn't able to bend notes, and playing anything fast seemed to confuse things a lot. It's still in beta so maybe they can improve things a bit.
