Happy New Year!

Post by Devany » Sat Jan 09, 2021 4:27 am

Happy new year.

This is a link to my 2021 song... written last year!

Clearly, I'm not trying to flog it. It was really just a bit of fun. And I'm sharing it here on that ironic basis.

However, I am curious if it would fit the "radio ready" moniker so often asked for? I mean for the audio - not my prancing around on the video.

Should I give Taxi a bit of blast this year?

Thanks for listening and happy, or at least just better, new year.

Hey Devany! HYN to you as well!

It is a fun and hopeful song, and sounds pretty good.

The only thing that stuck out for me that was off was the harmonies are not really in synch, not really tight together, to sing with each other throughout the song. You could try bringing in the high harmony in, and pull the other low part out to make each part stand out more; and reverse. You could also minimize that bass drum and brushes throughout the track, and pull them back to just spots in the song, to emphasize certain vocal phases or parts, vs just the same pattern throughout.

So tightening up the harmonies, and doing a bit more arrangement to the percussion/drum part I think would help lift it up more.

Cheers,
Brad

P.S. I actually enjoyed the video. It was strangely hypnotizing. =)

Thanks for listening.

Yeah, I thought about bringing the vocals together, but I'm also trying to avoid over producing. The drums also, interesting comment. I really need to figure out a flow to make programming drums less tedious, looser.

The video, by-the-way, is actually in real time. That is to say, a single contiguous shot, except the globe at the start and at the end.
