Re: Headphone advice needed
Yep, 650s for me. Bought them a couple years ago before I built the studio and had to try and mix in a horrible square bedroom. I can't stand the "standard" Sony ones. and for vocal tracking, I need something that doesn't bleed like the AKG 240s. I also bought a couple pairs of these for tracking some rock bands where I don't really want to give the 19 year-old-drummer my $275 cans. They aren't too comfortable, but they're loud and cheap.

Hi Anne,I've used the Sennheiser HD265's for many years now, though as Mazz states, I find headphones to be good for checking things, but not for doing the main or final mixing of tracks. They can play tricks on your ears. I just ordered a pair of HD280 for a friend's birthday (remember Fred from Freddy & The Freeloaders??), so we'll see how those sound soon. Several years ago I wanted a pair to wear for hours at a time (when I'm working late at night in our home and can't have the music in the speakers), so I went to a store and tried them all on before getting a pair. I'd advise that too. For me, the AKG series I tried just didn't sit well on my ears, so I went with Sennheiser. Everyone is a little different. Good luck with your studio construction!Raags
